This dog def has pit in it. I would say pit and boxer. This dog looks just like mine when she was a puppy and she is pit and boxer. They are incredible dogs. Your dog is gorgeous. My dog is about 2 years old now and I'm including a picture. They have a lot of the same qualities, maybe this will help. Oh and mine has one brown eye (the one that appears green or blue in pics) and one eye that is blue on bottom and white on top. (the one that appears red in pics, just like human eyes!) I call it her people eye. It makes her unique and beautiful.

I'm a dog writer and own two pit bull mixes and an Am Staff. I am by no means an expert at identifying pits but I do have a lot of experience. Here are my thoughts:

Jess - Pit Bull/Dalmatian?

scotsmanvic (1) - don't see any pit there

nina101 - a mix, maybe pit but more likely boxer

tori - looks like a pure pit

demarcus_nichols AT yahoo.com - can be tough to tell when puppies. I think there's pit there.

Jennifer - 10 weeks? Again, hard to tell w/ a puppy - looks too gangly to be pure pit to me.

Angie - pit and lab, maybe rott looks right to me, too.

J - I see the Boxer but don't thinnk there's pit.

Pat - he's unusual - good looking dog. The head is flat like a pit but that snout is something else.

Shana - I think that's right though there could be more in there.

Maestro - don't see any pit. Head too pointy, etc.

Pooh - would need a better pic.

Hannahbanana - all american lab mix, probably several breeds. Don't think pit.

Shane - if there's pit in there, it's a long ways back.

jeeps187 - her brother looks like he's a bit pit but she doesn't. Amazing how different sibs can look.

babyboy - beautiful, pure pit

Jacqueline & Terrence - if he's got chow, he'll have some black/purple spots on his tongue or a pure black/purple tongue.

aurora79 - mix

Jenna - no pit

Jim - no pit

Camilla - they're closely related but I think just a Staffie mix

Kari - classic pit smile, probably a mix

Kelly - w/ black spots on his mouth there's chow in there. Too young for me to tell if there's pit.

Juliana - looks pure pit but hard to tell that young.

Staffie? - I think you're right.

Samantha - looks like a Boston Terrier or French Bulldog mix to me. Very cute.

Smith69 - looks like an Am Staff or Am Staff mix to me.

pepe - not sure if pure pit though she looks it now. She is so adorable.

Nick H. - looks like a tiny bit of pit in there

Cindy - I see some Shepherd in there, too.

Paddy - way too young for me to tell

I'm sure many of these are wrong which just proves that when they have animal control officers decide if a dog is a pit, thus determining its fate, it's flawed and downright abominable.

My puppy is 5 mo. old. She is a German shepherd x Pit Bull Terrier. She looked almost exactly like the ones on here! We have a staffy and my parents own a GSD. My Baby mentally, so far, is like a GSD. Calm temperament and likes to test my dominance! Very, very smart and loves to jump fences and wander. I wouldn't change her for the world!

I know her dad is white red and with black spot red nose, and mommy is brindle chocolate pit bull. She mixed of the two. I know this but what do you think?

I don't really know how to tell if your dog is purebred without papers but here is a picture of my Rachel. She is a pit bull but we have been told she looks like a mixed breed as well. I don't give a hoot. She's not my dog she's my daughter.

The shelter said shepherd mix. He has a mostly black tail now. He is 18 weeks approximately and 28 pounds. His jaw line does seem to get wider at the back and he has spots in his mouth. We always thought boxer and shepherd but now we think there might be pit instead of boxer. He has been getting a bit more aggressive lately. Also he seems to have so breathing issues and snores very loud is that typical of pit or boxer?

PetCo sells a DNA kit. You swab the dogs mouth and mail it to a lab. Results seem to come around 4-6 weeks and I've seen as many as 6 breed DNA's from a single dog.

Also, the locking of the jaw is a myth. PBT's have incredible bite strength and the wil to hold on to whatever they have in their mouth. There is no biological mechanism that "locks" the jaw. It's just pure power and determination to not let go.

Her mother was a Staffordshire bull terrier. I don't know if she had other mixes in her.

The woman didn't tell me what her father was and loads of people think she has pitbull in her?

I have a puppy that's 1/3 bull mastiff and 2/3 pit bull and your little guy looks almost like mine did when he was that small. Can't really say for sure but with the markings id guess he's possibly a cross with something. So adorable!

Hi everyone I live in Ontario where the law says you can not own a pit bull I got a puppy 8 months ago and was told he was a boxer bull mastiff but everyday that I've had him he looks more like a pit bull. Unfortunately I've been to scared to take him for anymore shots because I think they will take him from me can anyone please help? This is Zozo.

I know that my Dozer is a Pit bull & lab, however I was told that he has chow in him too. I have a question, if you dog looks like a pit bull could you dog have an attitude like one of the mixes that's in his blood?

I got Lucy at the Kansas Humane Society and all that they could tell me was that she is a Lab mix. They didnt know what she was mixed with because she was found on the streests. She is the dog on the left, the one on the right is her brother.

My question is what do I have? I was told she is a pit lab mix but I don't believe it anymore her ears are sticking up on the side and do not lay flat to her head the fur is really really short and the jaw line has a v shape.

I am really happy with her she is a great pup but I wanted to know what she is because the sport training I want to do is depending on what she is hope it make since! Here she is 14 weeks old.

We were told she's a lab/bullmastiff mix.....but the face doesn't look very mastiff.

Any chance she's pit? Whether it's warranted or not, the wife won't want her if she's pit. Can you guys let me know what you think? Thanks,

Clench your own jaws together, and feel the muscle at the corners of your jaws bulge outward. That muscle is well developed and selected for in the pit breed, which gives them that blocky head look. Find a mature pit bull in your area (ask your vet or local animal shelter where) and you'll see the 'look' right away.

I WOULD JUST TRAIN MY PET IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY, ANY ANIMAL IS AS GOOD AS IT'S OWNER. IF YOU THINK IT PITBULL OR PITBULL MIX TAKE THE TIME FOR TRAINING.MAKE SURE THE DOG IS NOT AGGRESSIVE. TEACH IT TO BE LOVING.
I HAVE A ROTTIE /DOBIE CROSS, 110lbs OF POWER, BUT SHE IS VERY LOVING. TO ANYONE THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH HER. SHE CAN BE AGGRESSIVE IF IT CALLS FOR IT. SHE IS VERY PROTECTIVE OF ME. BUT SHE ALSO GOES BY MY VOICE LEVEL & TONE IN MY WORDS. I PERSONAL FILL THAT ANY PET CAN BE A GOOD PET JUST WITH PROPER TRAINING & LOVE.

If you want to find out if your dog is a pitbull check out some of the canine DNA sites. Your vet can do the blood draw and send it to the laboratory of your choice.

Hi im Holly. Hi I own one pit bull and they usually have large jaws from just a month old, not very big jaws but it looks different then a labs jaws or even a boxers. Usually pit bulls have unique colors like a goldish yellow or multicolored kinda like your puppy. Pit bulls are usually short and very muscular when they are older, your puppy looks exactly like my pit bull puppy and a lot in common! Here's usually what pit bull puppies look like! But this is just when there 3-4 weeks old!
