Getting Rid of Flies on Dogs

The flies are really bad this year. Does anyone know what to put on dog's to keep the flies from biting their ears and the rest of their body?

I can remember when I was a kid my dad used to smear axle grease on the dogs & horses ears. I guess Vaseline would work then too.

This is safe for dogs and people, and works for flies and mosquitos.
Take a spray bottle and fill half with amber colored Listerene, and half with water. Spray the dogs and yourselfs, and anywhere food will be served. You will have no flies or mosquito problems. Lasts for hours and just repeat as necessary. Do not spray around eyes.

I have 2 dachshunds. Very low to the ground with their short legs. I spray them down good with Off! Skinatstic. Works wonders on mine, keeping flies and mosquitos away.

I had a neighbor who coated his German Shepherd's ears with a thin layer of brown (medicated) vaseline in the summer. He swore by it to keep the flies from attacking.
