Generic Versus Name Brand Bleach
So if you've dealt with this dilemma please tell me the results you got back. And if you have any ideas for a witty project name for it I'd love to hear them.

I have found that both generic and clorox bleach have the same ingredients in it. And it also comes out the same on clothes.

I am also doing a the same science fair project! I found that clorox bleach and generic bleach have the same exact percent of ingredients! I'm glad that I could help!

I agree with Carol in PA. The generic bleach does not work as well as the name brand! That science teacher may read something in a book and think he knows the answer......... but he has probably not done an actual comparison or experiment. Seeing is believing.......while words are just that.....words! I do buy generic food and cleaning products. Some are nearly identical to the name brand but some are not and I won't use them again.

Whether you use generic bleach or name brand bleach it is the same. Generic bleach & brand name bleach are one in the same. Some people are so caught up in brand names that they short change themselves. Ask your science teacher & you'll get the same answer.

imho, generic bleach is not as good at whitening clothing or removing stains as brand name bleach. Also, you need to use more of the generic bleach than name brand to get the same job done.
I have no knowledge of how the two compare as far as disinfection of materials washed is concerned. I believe them to be the same for that purpose.
Why dont you ask your mom for some rags or an old white sheet and do some experiments yourself? I think plain white cotton material would work best for this experiment... Perhaps white cotton undershirts would make a good test material. Just be sure to use the exact same material for each test.

A name I would like to submit is Blah, Blah, Bleach.
I have noticed that unless I am using the Clorox brand bleach my whites do not come out as white. I use the generic brands for scrubbing floors and and other jobs around the house that don't require the real stuff. I have used the Clorox on a black mark on our tile floors and it worked perfectly. For me, using the clorox on the mustard stain doesn't work as well unless I let the shirt soak overnight.
I wish you all the luck on your science project, and I am positve you will do well. My son is also doing a project here in GA. His is about engines.

i have found any type of bleach ok at soaking clothes to remove stains, how about a title like " brain strain removing stains " or "the pain of stains"
