This is a Hummingbird Clearwing. At first I thought it was a bee of some sort and I took photos of it and researched it. It is in the moth family. Pretty neat.

RE: Hummingbird Clearwing Moth

I am new to hummingbird feeding and watching. I live in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and have a feeder that is suction cupped to my kitchen window. During the months of July and August, I had lots of hummingbirds feeding on my feeder but then suddenly come September no more visitors at all. What is also peculiar is that I had an owl in my backyard one day only several days before I noticed the hummingbirds were no longer coming to my feeder. Does anyone know if this is a unique situation or do they stop visiting my area during this time period or did the owl have an adverse impact on the situation? I miss seeing my little friends.

I've had them visiting my garden too, especially the liatris plants.
