Crafts Using Old Wedding DressMary from Hollywood, FL Feedback About This Post:RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressMake dolls similar to pillow case dolls. Also bonnets are pretty and cute to give to all the new babies coming down the line. Post by mizpah4680 RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding Dress
My Grandmother had a Christining gown made for her 4th child, a son, and the remainder was made into rosery holders for her 3 daughters. Post By Sharon (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding Dress
Carefully open the dress at the seams and try to salvage as much yardage as you can. Don't cut anything else till you write down some of the ideas given, deciding how much of the dress could be made into what. You can't undo once you cut. Post by T&T Grandma RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI would think that a few shadow boxes made with some of the gowns fabric, maybe a few pics of the woman that wore the gown and the man she married, a few other pieces of personal items ( a pic of the one you're giving the item to, would make great keepsakes. Post By Shelly (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressA dear friend of mine made me two pillows from each of my bridesmaids dresses. One they were not taking up the whole closet and she wanted to know if I had any stuff like that so she could do something with them. Each pillow was different and both fancy and beautiful. Was the best thing I ever did. Post by dietvanilla RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressA quilt would be nice. A lot of good suggestions on here! Post By Karen L. (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI was going to also suggest the ring bearer pillows. Another idea is to make a drawstring purse large and roomy enough to hold the wedding cards, a comfortable 8x10. As people go through the receiving line, they can hand the card directly to the bride, who carries the purse on her arm. Or, it could be kept on the gift table, if it is being monitored. It keeps the cards together, elegantly, and they can then be put into a safe place. Post by Thrifty Me RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding Dress
I suggest making a doll gown out of it to display. It would be great to make it in the original style. Post by Polly G RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI suggest to make some nice cushions or pillows for their bed or guest bed so they will not be used sooo much so they will last a very long time. I would hate for the dress to be torn up. It's a keep sake. You can also embroidery her name on the above & to your children, that would be a reminder who got married in it. Good luck. Post By k w (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI had handkerchiefs and garters made for all of my children (3 girls and 1 boy- for his wife to use). They made wonderful "something old"'s, and the handkerchieves were carried with the bouquets. Post by fab4mom RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI've seen throw pillows made of wedding dress fabric/lace. Also, you could cut out squares of it to use in a quilt (or several quilts) along with other special fabrics like prom and bridesmaid dresses, baby's blanket, etc. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressMaking a First Holy Communion dress might have a lot of meaning. Post By Lucille (Guest Post) RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI have seen beautiful baby's baptismal gowns made from heirloom wedding dresses. You could use it to cover small wedding picture albums/guest books too. The lace for trim, and add some nice lace/ribbon flowers. Post by Dedeswrkshop RE: Crafts Using Old Wedding DressI made the grandkids (7) each a ring bearer pillow. I know it would have made her ( my mom) happy to be a part of each of their weddings.
