I made a yo-yo quilt for my mother-in-law for Christmas and had 4 bags of scrap material. I made a fabric wreath using the scraps. I took a wire hanger, cut off the "hook" and bent one side to make a "U" turned sideways. then I took the scrap of material, pierced it (or cut) and "threaded" it onto wire form. Repeat until you have completed circle. At other end, make another "U" turned the opposite way so you can hook the 2 sides together. I crimped it so it would not come apart. I then added a ribbon bow where the crimp was. It turned out beautiful. I had enough to make 2 3/4 wreaths. kept one and gave other 2 as gifts. not bad for "free".

Update: Here is the picture of the scrap material wreath I wrote about a couple weeks ago. My daughter taught me how to load the image.

What size scraps do you use? 2x2 3x4 so on. I'm just starting to learn to make wreaths and I'm very interested. Thanks, hapier01 at yahoo com

Why is it called yo-yo? Did you form each scrap into circles or is it all rough edges just cut -up scrap fabric? I guess it works either way?

the shapes were triangles, slivers, rectangles, etc. just imagine a circle cut from a small square. the left over from the circle (yo-yo) is the material I used. alot of it had tails--but that just added to the effect. you can always trim later. I tried making one with pinking shear squares-but I liked my scrappy wreath better. Also the bow really added to the whole project. I used wire ribbon-bought after christmas-75% off. Took about 3 feet of ribbon.

I used all sizes. better to use a variety of sizes. one size seems to not fill out right. I used big scrap then small and kept going like that. also don't do the same color-mix it up--unless you are doing an all white or red and white--etc.

Just darling! I used to use a straw wreath and push the fabric scraps into it. I like this idea as well. What size were your scraps of fabric. I don't want to waste any. I used 4 in. squares that were cut with pinking sheers. Thanks Kat!
