Can I paint a green artificial Christmas tree white? How can I do that?

I would just spray in on the ends of each branch to look like snow/ice. It may turn out pretty.

Bad idea! Big Lots has numerous reasonably priced trees in various colors. Think about it .. to cover your tree completely you would have to paint each needle separately. If you spray paint it, it will end up splotchy.
You could keep it green and spray "snow" on it.
