I had a very good friend who had terrible dandruff until he started using Denorex shampoo. It's a coal tar thing, I think. He said he let it soak while we washed the rest of his body and rinsed his hair last. It really claered it up.

You might want to see a dermatologist, you may be reacting to the chemicals in the straightener. The dermatologist can also prescribe something that will really correct the dandruff.

I don't know of a single conditioner, natural or otherwise, that is going to give dandruff relief. As a matter of fact the oils/fats in conditioners can make dandruff worse. It's best to try to keep conditioner away from the scalp. It's meant to condition the hair strands. Dandruff is also exacerbated from not shampooing at least once a week. As another poster recommended use a shampoo like T-Gel. I recommend Nizoral which is available at Walgreens.
You can save some money by using an inexpensive strong shampoo to remove the dirts and oils first and then use the dandruff shampoo on the second shampoo but leave it in your hair and scalp for about five minutes so it has a chance to work it's magic ;-) I applaud you for working on going natural :-) Hope to give you confidence by letting you now I am a licensed hairstylist since 1972 and worked on every scalp and hair type imaginable.

The oil in the Mayonnaise may help some, but food is for eating and dandruff shampoo is especially formulated to help with dandruff. Lab chemists spend lots of money and time coming up with the right things for our face and hair. If you want a natural dandruff shampoo Tea Tree of Paul Mitchell is wonderful, although not as effective as Selson Blue shampoo. Stick to what has gone through all of the studies in the lab. My husband has used dandruff shampoo since he was 18 years old, and is now 68. It has worked for him, and he has had no health problems over all of these years from using it.

I do not know about mayo but I do know that if you put some kind of oil on your head about once a week,let it stay on over night it helps with dandruff & your hair looks better also use T-Gell shampoo(get it at discount stores) every time you shampoo. It helps with dandruff, good luck.
