Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsElles Feedback About This Post:RE: Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsI've got my black short pants washed and one portion of the black turned greenish. It could be the caused of the washing powder gathered at that spot during washing. Any tips to reinstate the black colour? Need some help here because I just bought those pants. :( Post By Magie (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsI have a jacket and it has black and white. What can I use to bring the black back but also keep the white? Post By Anabel (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black Garments

have you tried to rinse your clothes in white vinegar? Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black Garmentsold fashioned tried and true method of "setting" colours is to soak garment in salt water few hours then wash normally in warm, sudsy water. I just did that to a bright blue print blouse and it worked very well for me.. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsI'd suggest washing on delicate cycles, turning the items inside out, using 'black' friendly detergents(color-safe or Fewa Black Magic), and drying on low heat or hanging. I have numerous pairs of black jeans and black shirts/jackets that I've managed to keep from graying just being a little careful when washing. I've redyed several items but the dyes wash out much faster than the mfg's original and the hot water requirement makes some items shrink too much. See this link for more tips: http://www.tide.com/articles/read.jhtml?articleId=3449 Post By ck (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsA LARGE PART OF MY WARDROBE IS BLACK AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM - I SUGGEST YOU DYE THEM WITH RIT CLOTHING DYE USING THE HOTTEST WATER POSSIBLE AND ONLY A COUPLE OF ARTICLES PER PACKAGE OF DYE. ALSO, WHEN WASHING THE DYED ARTICLES IN THE FUTURE USE COLD WATER ONLY AND DO NOT WASH THE DYED ARTICLES WITH OTHER CLOTHING FOR SEVERAL WASHES AS THE COLOR WILL FADE ONTO OTHER CLOTHING - THIS WILL BRIGHTEN THEM UP AGAIN - GOOD LUCK Post By DIANE (Guest Post) RE: Putting Color Back Into Black GarmentsRIT dye works FAB!!!! Don't forget to turn your black clothes inside out when washing as well! Post by homeschoolin_mum |
