Cleaner for Shower Doors

Can someone tell me what is a good cleaner, store bought or homemade, for shower doors? I hate cleaning them but there is got to be something to make it easier to get off that filmy white stuff.

Thanks,
Debbie from Garden City, MI

RE: Cleaner for Shower Doors

I tried several of the suggestions without complete success. Then,my wife bought a commercial product at WalMart called C (Calcium) L (Lime) R (Rust), aplied it with the an "eraser" sponge and absolutely cleaned the shower glass down to the original, new condition.

Cleaner for frosted/etched Shower Doors

I have a new frosted/etched shower door and I don't have a clue of how to get the fingerprints and water marks off the front of the doors. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Use white vinegar.I live in Central Texas I think it must be the lime stone capital of the world so we have really hard water here. I use white vinegar full strength in a spray bottle. Then let it sit for a few minutes and then I use a green scrub pad on it. I rinse it and if it is not compleatly cleaned, I do it again.

Hot vinager! Heat in a measuring cup in the microwave to almost boiling. Carefully pour hot liquid into a spray bottle and spray on your doors or curtains. Let it sit for a few minutes (clean the rest of the bathroom), and then wipe off! The trick is to heat it though so it "melts" the scum away.

Dawn dish detergent..a squirt in the sink with water gets everything in the bathroom sparkling..even mirrors. For hard soap scum a small squirt on a damp cloth full strenght MELTS it away.By far the best cleaner I've ever used!!

While in the shower cleans the walls of "it" with regular hair shampoo, it will cut the film on the walls and you'll come out clean too!

Nice job to give kids to do with a sponge, they have a good time playing in the water and helping mommy at the same time!

When you finish showering wipe down the doors and shower with an old bath towel. Take two towel with you to shower...one for you and an old one for the shower. Keeps your shower clean!

I find that baking soda, applied with a damp sponge, will clean just about anything in the tub & shower, without much hassle. The Mr Clean magic erasers (which are now available in generic at many dollar stores) work quite well, too, but they are not as cost-effective.

RE: Cleaner for Shower Doors

I have just discovered that magic erasers work really well. Need a little elbow grease, but I the last time I saw my shower that clean was the day we built!!! They are a type of foam that you moisten and then rub over the surface. I cleaned a sectiion a day so it didn't seem to be so hard.
