Dealing With Frizzy Hair

I'm really desperate for some hair tips. I feel like I've tried every product out there or natural solution for frizzy hair. Could everyone please give me good ideas for inexpensive products or natural solutions that actually work for frizzy, medium thick hair.
Thanks so much.

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

When your hair is dry and you want to defrizz quickly and not use products that are costly. Just add a bit of hair conditioner with a tiny splash of water and it will smooth away the flyaways and defrizz. Good luck. Go to a hair salon and see what product they recommend or just go to the Afro hair products in any drugstore or walmart and buy basically
the same product for pennies on the dollar.

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

I have frizzy, (& curly & long) hair too. I searched for years without success until recently I found a way to have silky soft shiny hair: I think its the combination.

"Smooth 'N Shine" Hair Polisher by Schwarzkopf & Henkel dist.
- after a few tries I figured out I needed just under 1 teaspoon rubbed into wet hair (too much & hair is oily the next day. . .to little and I still have the frizzies).

Next I generously apply:

"Sunsilk" 24/7 De-Frizz Creme (its not like any other I've tried)

I also DON'T wash hair daily. Only every 3rd day. In between washes I rinse very well and rub my fingers into my scalp like the hairstylists at the salon. Then I apply Clairol ColorSeal Intensive Conditioning Creme (I found it in the Perfect 10 haircolor by Nice'nEasy) I use it every day after my pretend wash. I don't have any problems with my hair not looking nice & clean.

The best part for me was I found the first two products to be very very inexpensive: Family Dollar carries them. The Clairol ColorSeal stuff costs 10.00 and lasts about 2 months. . .after all those hundreds of dollars already spent looking for this look I'm sticking with it - and that's my story!

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

Dealing with frizzy hair involves a couple of steps. First, don't shampoo everyday. If you feel like you need to wash your hair daily try washing with conditioner only. Cheap conditioners like VO5 and Suave work the best for this. After wetting your hair, saturate your hair and scalp with the conditioner.

Leave it on while you finish the rest of your shower and rinse it at the end. Follow up this wash with a heavier conditioner on just the hair below your ears. Just lightly wash out the heavier conditioner. My favorite gel is straight aloe vera gel. You can get it from Walmart in the summer section, but be sure to get the kind without added medicine to heal a sunburn. A generous dollop of aloe vera gel mixed with a fingernails worth of coconut oil gives me perfect curls everyday.

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

Actually frizz has nothing to do with dryness but rather with moisture in the air or except when it's extremely chemically damaged from a perm.

When you have the frizzies simply place a drop or two (or more as needed depending on length and thickness) of your favorite conditioner, lotion or essential oil in the palm of a hand, rub together with other palm and gently and evenly dispurse through your hair, brush or comb and you're good to go :-)

Besides having curly hair myself, I was a hairstylist for over three decades as were my parents so I learned quite a few tips to help my clients save money along the way ;-) Oh, and actually shampooing every day stimulates scalp oil glands and those oils help coat the hair shaft when gently brushing or combing through from scalp to ends ;-)

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

One important thing is not to wash curly (frizzy ) hair too much! Even the best salons would tell you that. It is more dry than average hair and needs to rebalance the natural oils. Instead of washing with shampoo each time, just use the cream rinse for a couple days and then wash. You'll notice a huge difference. (The earth will thank you too.)
I use just plain olive oil or organic coconut oil. Just enough to have a thin film on hands and rub evenly in. Eat the oils too!

I also make a 'pomade' of beeswax, olive oil, coconut oil and essential oil of rosemary and or rose/lavender. Melt ingredients on stove top in an old pan and pour into saved tins. (Cool old mint tins etc) for your own hair savior. You'll get the measurements right after you try a few times. You can keep re melting it until you get it right.

Rub a bit into hands until it 'melts' and then rub onto hair. Gives a nice sheen, and won't feel greasy if you're hair is thirsty for moisture.

RE: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

I have the same problem. I use aussie sydney smooth tizz no frizz gel it comes in a purple tube thing. I put some in while hair is wet and then style it (you can let your hair air dry if you want) and it helps my crazy. then if u straighten it put a little bit of chi frizz control before straightening it ( you can buy it at ulta or your hair salon don't buy it from a drug store because it probably is a knock off brand). If you don't straighten it then add a tiny bit of the aussie or chi stuff and it should help. Hope I helped :)

Archived Request: Dealing With Frizzy Hair

I have hair that is long, about mid back. It is very frizzy. If I use a straightening iron it is flat and not frizzy and looks so much better and healthier. Of course, I don't have time to wash, dry and straighten my hair every day. I would like to know any tried and true products or suggestions to get the frizzies out. I do wash it every day and use conditioner. I have used a few non-frizz products that are no good.

Thanks
Lisa
