This solution sounds strange, but sometimes you can remove the permanent marker by writing over the mark with a permanent marker. Tthem immediately wiping it off, with a paper towel! I have done this a number of times and it works, most of the time! Let us know, if it works please.

Black permanent marker can be removed from non-porous surfaces such as glass or metals by wiping with a cloth moistened with methylated spirits. This will not work for fabrics or paper.

RE: Removing Marker From A Box

I have removed black permanent marker very successfully with Goof Off (from the hardware store) and with good success with hairspray. I would try either on a small portion on the back of the box to make sure that it doesn't ruin the box and then immediatly blot it dry with a soft rag. Otherwise, I would agree with MCW and try to cover it with a coordinating sticker. Good luck.

Don't ruin the box in trying to get rid of the marker. If nothing else works apply a pretty sticker to the box to cover it over.

Try a damp magic eraser. If it doesn't remove it, it will at least lighten it a lot.

Try nail polish remover.

If it's permanent it CANNOT be removed, but if it is a black grease pencil, try rubbing it lightly with a soft cloth and see if you can remove the mark.
