Need Shelter for an Outdoor Wedding Reception

Hello, we are planning an outdoor reception, which is risky weather-wise. Anyone have any inexpensive ideas for providing cover in case it rains? It will be a pretty big reception on a friend's property. They have a huge yard but a small house so we need some shelter outside.

I went to reception once were the parents were buying a new boat and found a dealer and place like Home Depo that sold white tarp to them for next to nothing. They found some large steardy steak poles from a neighbor who had been tearing down old fencing and with the aid of these made a prettty cover that worked well when it began to rain. Another neighbor donated several pieces of large ply wood and the mother of the bride found cheap fabric that went with the wedding theme. She stapled the fabric on the front and sides of the ply wood to cover and then used it after for chair covers for their porch furniture. This gave a good back drop for the food tables and some side cover if the wind blew. Good luck.

Check your local rental stores...who rent all kinds of party equipment as well as tools. Also check with the party supply stores who probably keep a list of such businesses.

Our son and his wife had theirs in a local park...which they had to pay for by the hour...but it turned out OK. It had a roofed space about 15''X30'' so it probably wasn't as large as what you're needing.

These party rental places will rent and put up and take down any sized tent you need....they also have folding chairs of all kinds.
