This even works while cooking cabbage & any kind of greens & frying fish, good luck. Post By Jessica (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?I heard about vinegar and I used it. Well, somtimes it seems to help, but sometimes it doesn't work as I can smell the cooking odors everywhere. Question: what kind of vinegar are you using? I saw a number of vinegars: distilled vinegar, apple vinegar, and even Concentrated vinegar (this is very strong). So, which one do you recommend, anyone? Thanks Post By Virginia (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Add some vanilla imitation extract to the vinegar. This eliminates the cooking odor and also the vinegar smell. I tried it and it works like a charm. My friends tried it and they are thrilled too. Post By helping mom (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?I saturate a tiny clay pot w/ essential oil - a stong one like clove, spearmint - keep it on a counter -- I re-oil it about every 2-3 weeks,,,since it's so small it doesnt take much oil. I also have an plug oil diffuser (Body Shop & usually Wild Oats) - if it's itense, I just put my oil of choice on the diffuser pad & plug it in...they are wonderful -- I dont like the sprays but have been using oils for years..cj in camas wa Post by cjjones RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?I realize that I am late to this post but place a cinnamon stick or powder in water on a pot on the stove while you are cooking and turn on the fan over the stove while cooking and keep on the stove afterwards. (How do you like that for a run-on sentence?) The cinnamon makes your dwelling smell like potpourri. I am sure that other scents will work as well. Post By Frederick (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Well, i, personally have tried the vinegar..and IT WORKED! EXCEPT for the fact that my apartment now smells like icky vinegar. Anything else? Post By SAM (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Run the stove's exhaust vent, keep a lid on the pot and use an air cleaner in the kitchen during and after cooking. Post by cookwie RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Dear Smiley, don't feel bad about the fried chicken smell. I am a school nurse and I know of many children who don't even know what a home cooked meal smells like. I have fond memories of my family that correlate with good food smells in the kitchen. I say "Kudos" to you and "Keep up the wonderful cooking smells!". (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?I bought a box fan for $10. I usually set it in the window turned the other way ie. the air blowing outwards from the window. Works beautifully like an exhaust. Post By Sara (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Another way to deal with cooking odors is: saturate a cotton ball with vanilla extract. Set it, in a shallow container, in an out-of-the-way place -- on a window sill, on top of your cabinets (if they don't run clear to the ceiling), on top of the fridge, etc. I use an old jar lid as a container -- it's not meant to be decorative, just useful! Post By Becki in Indiana (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?Either boil lemon or orange peels or like Lee-Ann said...a small bowl of vinegar next to the stove while frying works great! You can also heat it in the microwave to get the icky smell out of the microwave oven... Post By Melissa R (Guest Post) RE: How Do I Get Rid of that Fried Smell after Cooking?I light a candle before I start cooking. It always works for me.
