Mary - all we had growing up were broken crayons ;) We only got new ones for school, then whatever was left over we threw in a canister (in fact, the 75th anniversary Barnum Animal Cracker can....I use the 100th for the boys' magnet letters/numbers!) Masking tape is a good idea, but I'm thinking they'll be hard to get back in the box!

also what you can do with broken crayons and they little bits of crayons from diffrent colors is to make one big crayon by removing all the papper and put it in a muffin tin and melt them togther and when it cools remove it and use as reguler crayon

Years back I took an art therapy course (not by choice!) and the instructor told us that the reason children become inhibited is because parents have a fit if they break their crayons. He gave everyone a new box of pastels, made us tear the paper off and break them. According to him, it would "free our inner child" and allow us to be more creative, because we could then colour with the side, not just the pointed end. Hmmm....

Do you mean wrap them with some masking tape?
