Getting Coupons in the Mail

I recently lost my job and things are beyond tight. I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites that send coupons in the mail. Most of the stores in my area do not take computer generated coupons. Also, is there a website that gives away stuff that others do not want? Someone mentioned it to me but they did not know any specifics.

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail

This is not coupons in the mail, but you can get free stuff that other people no longer need or want. And, if you can help someone else out, then you can post your items that you no longer want. Helps when you are cleaning out your closet and give someone some nice clothes you do not like or fit into anymore, or maybe your kid's clothes no longer fits and vice versa!

And you can post a WANT if you do not see anything listed, people are very generous to help each other out in time of need, but remember to do the same if you can spare it! http://www.freecycle.org/

If you're interested in free stuff. Check out Kijiji.ca or Kijiji.com (depending on whether you are Canadian or American). When you get there, you can narrow it down by clicking on your city. There, you can find all sort of ads. Some that are asking for money, some who want to trade, and some who just want to get rid of their stuff, and are offering them for free! Check it out and have fun! Hope things get better. :)

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail

I just checked out grocerygame.com and its so cool but I'm not trying to pay for something that I am perfectly fine doing at home (although it does take a lot of time. My boyfriend makes fun of me, but then eats all the food I manage to buy with 200 bucks). I wonder if there's a free version out there?

Oh and does anyone know how to get those Sunday paper coupons in the mail without having to buy the paper every week?

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail

Have you tried starting a coupon swap in your home town? At our local library and thrift store-there is a table with a couple baskets that people bring in coupons and then go through the basket to see if they can use any. Also local stores send back the Sunday paper (ours around here are Tuesdays). You could ask the store manager if you could have the coupon section.

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail

I went to all of the major brand websites and I expressed my happiness with thier products, and I asked them for coupons. I got a few responses from this. Hienz is sending three .50c coupons. Birdseye is sending them also. Both Tyson and Hormel told me to look in magzines and newspapers. These are the only companies that I have heard from out of TWENTY-SEVEN companies that I contacted. I will get back and let everyone know if I hear from any others.

I try to buy as much organic & all-natural food as I can, but it can be expensive! So one of the things I just recently started doing was e-mailing some of the companies of brands I use a lot and asking for coupons. This can be done for any product, of course, not just organics. The website address is usually printed on the box, and it doesn't hurt to give them a compliment if you really do enjoy their products! Many companies have gotten back to me right away and sent me some nice coupons, all just for asking. Try it out--it can't hurt, and you might be pleasantly surprised! Good luck!

Thank you to both Lily May and Sbaker for the freecycle info. I checked it out and they do not have a chapter here. I am thinking of starting one, but i am not sure yet.
To thriftyboo, I think I will try this. I just assumed that the store had the final say in this matter.

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail

I have only seen one chain store in my area post a sign that they won't take computer printed coupons. I know it's because of forgeries, but this punishes many people for the sins of a few. If you have legitimate computer printed coupons, like from the manufacturer's website or a reputable website like Smart Source, I would pressure the store manager to accept them. If s/he still says no, contact the owner or district or regional manager. If the store still won't accept manufacturers coupons just because they are printed at home, contact the manufacturer by email detailing the store name, location, store number (if there is one), store manager's name, the time, date, day you tried to use the coupon, etc. I bet they'll change their policy soon.....

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail/freecycle

I don't know about the coupons, but go to the following website:
http://www.freecycle.org/

Freecycle is a great thing. Freecyclers post things that are in good condition. They don't want to trash the stuff, but don't want to be bothered trying to sell it. I have found homes for a lot of stuff (and some great stuff has found its way to my home this way.) Go to the website and see if there is a freecycle group in your area. If there isn't one, consider starting one. You'll be surprised how many people join it once they know it's there.

I just posted without logging in and it did not go through. Sorry here the message again:

Check www.freecycle.org there might be a group in your area. They offer free things and you can offer the things you don't need---all free.
