What are these bugs?Louise from Danville, VA Feedback About This Post:RE: What are these bugs?Have you found out what these are? And if so, what would remedy the infestation. I have the same bugs and I need help! I think I've spread it to my friend. Post by douce RE: What are these bugs?
I don't think we will every find out what type of bugs they are, but I just want to get rid of them. They are driving me crazy. I have found that Adams flea & tick mist. I picked it up at walmart. They also sell it at pet shops, petco. It contains pyrethrins. It's suppose to be for dogs & cats, but also works good on humans. I sprayed my rugs, furniture, headboard and box spring with it. I also vacuumed and I had relieve for a few days, but they are back again. Post by EnjoyurDay RE: What are these bugs?
Try using an ozone generator. Not an ionizer, a generator puts out toxic O3 that kills smaller insects. Use the machine on high. Note that I have heard that ozone degrades some plastics and rubber but I have not experienced this happening myself. Have used the generator for 14 hours straight in the car with no adverse effects. Post by nuitgoddess RE: What are these bugs? Please help. I can not live like that those small bugs are killing me. Post By milas (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?
We have been dealing with these little white mites for over 2 years. Here is what I know: They like hard surfaces like computers, desks, plates, electronics, furniture, musical instruments, SHOES. They don't like (but travel on): clothes, carpets, blankets, etc. They come around when it is moist: spring fall winter. Post By Lovie S. (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?Hi everybody l have also been going out of my mind l have spent hundreds of dollars trying to kill these little white wait tiny tiny white bugs that bite l thought l was the only one with this tiny monster driving me crazy maybe its an imported bug no one knows what l am talking about at stores l have my neighbors they are mostly renters and don't kill these bugs so every year its the same nightmare don't know what to do at least l am not alone. Post By leo (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?I know this is late reply, but my wife and I just discovered these tiny white bugs in our kitchen pantry. I emptied the entire pantry out, throwing away any food items that they had access to, and cleaning everything else with boiling hot water. After clearing it out, I placed one of my pan' on top of our dog's food container, which I thought was air-tight. I noticed these white bugs on the pan, and I knew that they were not on there 10 minutes prior. When I opened the dog food container, they were all over the inside lid. I have a little dog, but I buy the larger bag for the savings. I hope that getting rid of the dog food will get rid of the tiny white bugs. Post By Michael (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?I just found these bugs and they are not white they look like tiny beetles one long body and small head. They don't fly or jump. They are on the bedding, walls, ceramic floors. They are just bigger than a flea, I sprayed and then found them in the other rooms so I am going to try bombing the house, but if anyone has an idea what these are please tell. Post By angel (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?I've got little white bugs too but only in my kitchen, driving me mad thought they was green fly bugs or something so I cleaned and bleached every inch of the kitchen, the next day they appeared again over everything, so I flea bombed the house, even though they are not fleas, I just thought they are bugs it should work, but it didn't, next day they was there again so I resorted to throwing out all things the I could not clean deep inside like toaster etc. so now my kitchen is empty just got kettle, but guess what they still appeared in my kitchen the next day less of them but they was still there, it is driving me crazy. I am getting paranoid any white dots I see anywhere I find myself looking closer to see if they move, they are not anywhere else in the house, I'm just bleaching daily. I don't have a clue what they are or where they come from but they are haunting me and everyone else so it seems. So if anyone finds out what they are I would love to know xx Post By sw (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?HI, I also have these bugs and have added this to my fav.'s. I am really hoping someone finds an answer. They will crawl right across my computer screen, on a counter, a toothbrush, anywhere. It's wierd! I have searched online like crazy. Mine do not run in a group though. They are usually alone. Small and white. I had brought home a bread machine from a dirty home and did notice them in that when I was cleaning. But they are everywhere. To those without the bugs clean your yard sale finds carefully before bringing em home. Post By Kathy (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?Springtails? Post By guest (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?
They might be Springtails which are annoying, but harmless. Springtails are attracted to cool and damp areas and often migrate inside during the summer once the A/C or Swamp cooler gets going. I find them wandering around my basement bathroom and dead in the window sill. If I turn over a pot or something on my cement outside after the sprinklers have been on, I find bunches of them running for the hills. To keep them down, I sprayed outside hitting the yard and making sure I did a good perimeter around the house, foundation, and windows. I then set off some foggers in the basement and more than I needed. It seemed to do the trick. Got 'em inside and kept more from coming in. Of course, we'll see what next week brings. Post By rdot (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? You might try to capture some and take them to your county extension agent. They may be able to tell you what they are or maybe can find out. Will be listed under county gov. office. Hope you get them nabbed. Joan Post By Joan (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?Since writing in to find out what these white specs were, I have met several more people that have the same problem. What is going on here? I bombed again and guess what? They are still here. I tried putting borax down on the carpet and leaving over night and vacumning in the morning. It helps some so I guess I'll keep doing that and maybe I can get rid of these things. Post By Louise (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?Mine are not fleas. I have cats and a dog and they do not have fleas, the vet told me they are not fleas, because that is the first thing I thought of and rushed my pets to the vet! I took him a few of the buggies and he was positive that they had nothing to do with my pets, not fleas, mites, chiggers, or tics! I'm happy for you that you found out what yours are. I guess I'll keep searching for an answer! And wiping everything down with disinfectant cloths, which gets rid of them for a while! Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?I came home last night and notice that I had these tiny white bugs on my black garbage can. They were everywhere, inside the garbage bag, outside the garbage bag, inside the can, outside the can like millions! I freaked out and started wiping them off with a wet paper towel and then I took my trash out, I took the garbage can to the tub and drenched it with Windex. Then I turned on the shower with the hottest water I had and rinsed them off. I then found them on the bottom side of the dog bowls so I mopped the floor with windex since it was the only chemical I had in my apt. I was up till 2:30am debugging my kitchen. I am curious to see what is going to happen when I come home today, I wonder if that got rid of them. Post By Patricia (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?
I took a piece of cardboard and wrapped it with duct tape, sticky side out and put it behind my night stand. I have never seen so many white spots. They were under the tape not on it. I looked up tiny white bugs on the internet under everything I could think of. From what I can tell they are FLEAS, eggs that is. The article said when you get a lot in your home they can stay dormant for months or years. You have to spray or bomb your house regularly to get rid of them because there seems to always be a cycle of them hatching until you get them all. (OH WHAT FUN!) Post By Louise (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? Thanks for the suggestion, but they are definitely not lice...they have never been on me or my pets...they don't itch, and they don't stick to hair or fur... Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs? These sound like lice to me and as they are carried by both people and animals it just could be so you know what gets rid of lice. Lysol disinfectant you can spray whole house with it and you should remove all sheets and anything washable and wash in hottest water it will take. I hope this helps you. My kids came home with them a few times what a job but you can get rid of them. denise Post By denise w (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? Thanks for the help. I bombed my whole house yesterday and they are still here. THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW. (SMILE)I have no idea where to send them. I live in the county. If I find out anything I'll you you all know. Post by louise marie RE: What are these bugs?Louise...I checked with my local government office about identifying the bugs...they said to collect several specimens in a small, spill proof container and fill it with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, and either mail it, in a crush proof box, or take it to your local university entimology lab....my university doesn't have one...maybe yours does?? Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?I tried the professional stuff that is supposed to kill everything..got it from an exterminator....I srayed my entire house, from bottom to top, room by room, after removing my pets!!...Then I went out for the whole day, leaving the house shut up tightly.....that was 2 weeks ago....they are back......They are not really in clusters...it's just that I have never seen any single ones...they just seem to be like ants...all over everything....and there are spots where there are none!! They have never been on my glass stuff...like tables, my stove, etc...and I have never seen them in my cupboards...or around my food or on my counters....they seem to really like leather furniture, computers, boxes, and cement floors....I have never seen them on the hardwood floors...I scrubbed my computer off, vacuumed it out, and wiped it with bug killer, and moved it upstairs and haven't seen any on it since I moved it....but I can't move all the furniture up here...and I don't want to chance bringing them up here!!! This is so frustrating!!! Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?Well you all have really been great trying to help. My bugs do not seem to get together in clusters as Castrofy say hers are doing. If they are they are in the carpet. You mentioned termites. I leave in a mobile home and there not much wood so I don't think that is the problem. I bombed the house today.Would you believe I still felt some on the living chair and in MY bed. There has to be someone who can tell us what we have. Post By Louise (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?Oh my gosh you guys are creeping me out! Now I am going to be looking for these bugs everywhere! Let me know if you find out what they are! Post By Lisa (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? And they are not termites, too small and no wings. They are not in the wood. Good suggestion, though. Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?Nothing new in my house...we had a fire 6 years ago and replaced everything in the house...the bugs didn't show up until last winter...the cold doesn't seem to get rid of the buggies that I have....I live in Canada and we freeze for 5 or 6 months and still have the tiny bugs......my rec room is quite chilly and cooler than the rest of the house all year, and I have only seen them down there....at all different times of the year.....but I'm sure they are the same as the ones Louise has, as everything she says describes mine...except they are not in my bed!! Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?If you don't have pets then they are not flea eggs (my first idea). Could they have anything to do with termites? I don't know much about them. If you can remember about when they started, think about anything you brought into the house around that time. Especially anything not new. Although I have had problems in the past with stuffed furniture (new) that came from another country (overseas). Hope you find the solution to your problem soon. Post by pam2cats RE: What are these bugs?Okey everyone. I found a larger white whatever this morning. It looks like a tiny white stick. Cannot see any legs head or tail. Just - . That's about how big it is. I tried to take a picture of it but could not get it clear enough. This doesn't make sense but I think the air conditioner cold air kills them and more come from? I keep it real cool in my house. I'll tell you one thing! I feel sorry for anyone else who has them. They can drive you nuts. The one I found was in my bed and it felt like a grain of salt. HELP! THEY ARE TAKING OVER MY HOUSE! Post By Louise (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? Also, they are not aphids as I don't have any plants in my house. My cats eat them! Post By Catastrofy (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs? The ones I have in my basement rec room are definitely not lice or crabs. I worked for a doctor for a few years and have seen all kinds of these creepy crawlies. These bugs are about the size of the "period" on your computer keyboard. They are white, and crawl not jumping, like fleas. They move very quickly and so far I've only seen them in groups no singles, they have no wings, but I can't see how many legs they have, as they are really tiny. They look like small grains of sugar. They don't seem to bite, but they swarm stuff, like fire ants do Just crawling over everything and not going around stuff. I've tried vacuuming them up, with moth balls in the vac., and I've tried crawling insect killer (Raid), and I've tried wiping everything off with Lysol cloths. It gets rid of them for a while, and then they magically reappear! They are only in my basement rec room, and seem to really like the leather furniture and my computer. They are really gross as they are so tiny and seem to be everywhere in large numbers, very suddenly. Hope this is enough detail. Post By Catastrofy (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?I know my little small white things are not crabs as Swen suggested. As for where they are in the house, they seem to be in the air, furniture or wherever. They are not in cabinets or any particular place. I did try the trick of using tape but I was told they were fleas by one company and dust mites by another. However, neither got rid of them. They seem to disappear for several and days and back again. It's like they die and more come out. I do not have pets and we do not have fleas in my area this summer. I had them all winter too. Maybe this will help get an answer. Was told that they are not lice. They are not in my hair. They just get on me from time to time. Post By Louise . (Guest Post) RE: What are these bugs?I also have them, they seem to be only in my basement rec room! Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Post by catastrofy RE: What are these bugs?
I am not sure from your description just what it is...you need to fill in some blanks here. Are they in every room? Do they only seem to get on you in certain places in the house? No bug is so small you can't see it with a magnifier. Try using a piece of Scotch Tape and pick them up with the sticky side...then use a magnifier on them, or take it to your County Extension Agent or a pest control place and see if they can identify them. Post by jah510 RE: What are these bugs?
I hate to say this but they could be "crabs" crab lice which comes from having sex with someone who has them. Post by SewnVa RE: What are these bugs? They could be lice. Post By dd (Guest Post) |
