Removing Old Ball Point Pen From Jersey

I'm trying to remove a (don't laugh) 10 year old ball point pen autograph from a valuable jersey (the vinyl number part-which is white). I tried alcohol which seemed to smear, gonzo stain remover, non-acetone fingernail polish remover. Nothing is working. I'm getting so desperate I'm thinking of white out! Any ideas out there?

I removed ballpoint ink from white jeans (part of a uniform). I tried hairspray, (it did nothing), I tried Clorex 2, (it lightened slightly). Out of desperation, I soaked the spot in milk, IT WORKED!!!!!

I read this (05/14/2007) post, below, by Elaine on Monday, April 21, 2008 and immediately used it to remove ballpoint ink marks (from two days before) from fabric (a cap) with the same spectacular results!
Thank you, Elaine, and God Bless the Internet as a power for good things!

"I know this is an old post, but I found this site through a web search because I just got ballpoint ink on our 'suede' polyester couch. I used a little rubbing alcohol with a paper towel and it ALL CAME OFF!!! I was shocked. So thanks for the great advice!"

I didn't have any hairspray around; however, hubby had a can of spray carburater cleaner. I used this to remove ball point pen ink from some red gabardine fabric. Just lay the fabric on some towels, sprayed it with the cleaner, then rubbed the fabric. Ink's gone. Make sure that the fabric is colorfast!

try hair spray for removing ball point ink......the cheaper the better (hair spray) don't know about a stain of that age ...also as a last resort maybe paint over it with fabric paint???

Try the new Clorox Bleach Pen. The small tip would allow great control and you could "write" only over the ink marks.

Good Luck!

If the hairspray doesn't work, I would try Oxy Clean. One or the other should work. If everything fails, then water down some bleach since it's white you're trying to remove the ink from. Good luck. I would like to know what works.

I would use a product from Dollar General called M-30. Smear it on and let set overnight. Wipe off with a damp papertowel. I use this product quite a lot. I love it !
