Many Uses For Terry Cloth Dish Towels

Over the years I have accumulated many terry dish towels. My uses for them: coasters, napkins, bibs, doilies, covers for arms of chairs, cleaning rags, dust rags, pot holders/trivets, place mats. I made matching toaster and coffee pot covers out of dish towels. Cut some in half if necessary. Oh, can use to dry dishes too. Toss in washer as needed and they are ready to reuse. Though I haven't tried it yet, I think using the towels to make pillow covers or a quilt would be interesting too. Saves on paper towels.

Some of these tips are really great--THANK YOU! I often think, "Wow, why didn't I think of that."

I cut up an old hand towel into 6 or 8 pieces and hem the raw edges. Some go into a container with diluted fabric softener for home-made dryer sheets. Others go into another container for home-made sanitizer sheets, which are great for fast clean-ups in the kitchen or bathroom. All get rewashed and reused when needed. They've lasted for years.

Since I am a sloppy hand dishwasher and cook, I sewed terry dishtowels to the front of my bib aprons at the waist. Now I don't get a wet tummy from leaning into the sink when washing dishes and I have a handy towel to wipe hands on when cooking or baking. When it wears out, rip it off and sew a new prewashed one on

I have sewn cloth dish towels into plastic bag holders. Just take one big dish towel and at both ends sew in elastic. Then fold dishtowel in half lengthwise and sew up the seam. Sew a ribbon loop for hanging on a nail. Stuff your holder with plastic bags and pull out from either end.

I have used pretty dish towels in matching colored print as throw pillows to fit my living room. We have lots of kids and grandkids and these pillows are great. When soiled just take off and wash. So easy and so nice.
