when we moved into our current home, there was a film on the windows and doors, i took dish soap (dawn), water and an old rag and just washed and dried with an old towel. make sure you get all the soap off so use very little to begin with, also Murphy's Oil Soap is good for wood.

Oven cleaner works really well, remove the door or put news paper under it to catch over spray or if you don't want to do it that way just use crumpled up news paper and scrub like heck. I like the oven spray, really cleans the window with very little work.

Wipe with baking soda on a damp cloth. It's very easy. Wipe with a damp cloth afterward to clean any soda residue.

EASY! Our class was given some wooden furniture from a day care center that had burned. The furniture was OK but smoky. I took a slightly damp dish cloth, put baking soda on it & it was NO problem to wipe away the smoke. When you're finished, just wipe with a clean cloth to get the baking soda off.
