| RE: Make Friends with the Maintenance Folks |
|
It doesn't sound at all weird to me. My son is a maintenence supervisor for an apartment complex in Las Vegas, and believe me he'll go out of his way to give special attention to those who are friendly and kind. I was always taught growing up to be friendly to those who do a service for you, even if it is their job. Offer a cold glass of water or a soft drink. I've always had good service. My grandmother always kept a pitcher of ice water on the kitchen counter to give to the bread man, the milkman, the mailman etc. The nicer you are to them, the nicer they are to you. ... I clean banks and doctor's offices also. I have used anti-bacterial hand gel with great success. Rub it into the ink and go do something else leave on the ink for about 5-10min. rub off with soft cloth or whatever cleaner you normally use. I've also removed permanent marker from countertops with it, adhesives, and chewing gum from a carpet. It will also remove black shoe marks from tile floors, and scuff marks from walls. I now keep a bottle with me at all times and when you're done cleaning you can use it on your hands. ... View related article. |

We did something like this in high school. We would paint our boyfriends initials on our thigh with nail polish and then lay out in the sun and get a tan, when the polish was removed, voila there were the initials! Lots better than a permanent tattoo. If you broke up with him all you had to do was lay out in the sun again to "remove" it. ... View related article. |

| RE: How do I buy a used car? |
|
I'll give you the same advice I gave my own daughter. She didn't listen and is having all kinds of problems now. Don't buy the first car you look at and don't buy with your emotions. Just because a car looks sharp, doesn't mean it will run as good as it looks. She even checked it out on carfax, but all that told her was the car had never been in an accident and had never been in a flood. Look for oil leaks, listen to the engine, does it knock or ping, whine or whistle? If so let it go. Try everything including the heater, air conditioner, radio. Check lights, horn etc. If the mileage is over 100,000 mi. Forget it. Make sure there's enough tread on the tires, so you won't have to make a major investment on tires right away. If possible try to buy a one-owner. Alot of small car dealers get their cars from auctions, that means some dealer couldn't sell them because of their condition. TAKE YOUR TIME! ...
