I use Scrubbing bubbles for all stains, we have three dogs and it seems to work. If you haven't already painted yet, add some vanilla to your paint and it will make sure you don't have the smell of smoke anymore. She bought a small can of stain (comes in various colors) at the hardware store, she let it soak it after she applied it with a sponge mop.
