RE: Forgot Your Extra Savings Coupon - No Problem, Just Tell the Cashier
I have on occasion forgotten to give the cashier coupons for certain grocery items I have purchased and I have gone back to the store to the customer service department and given them my registor receipt with the coupons I had forgotten to redeem and they have given me the coupon discount in cash. I think this is a great policy for stores to have because I have been able to redeem my coupons on several occasions because I was in such a hurry when I was shopping from time to time and had forgotten to give them my coupons when I was checking out. ... RE: Cooking Thrifty Meals For Two
My husband and I have been married for almost 45 years and now since are 3 children are grown and out discovering the world on their on I was having the same problem fixing meals just for two.
I have discovered a great new little helper which is my crockpot, you can cook almost anything in a crockpot.
I cook Beef Stroganoff, Swiss Steak, Pot Poast with any and all the vegetables you like, Barbecue Chicken or Ribs not to mention the soups, stews and chili you can make. It is also great with desserts.

I will cook meals that feed the two of us for 3 to 4 meals and I divide the meals in plastic freezer storage bowls (usually Ziplock) and for added security I then seal the bowls in freezer bags (usually Ziplock). I have kept these in my freezer for 6 to 8 months and it gives me such a good variety of meals to choose from it works out great plus I save a lot of money by buying in bulk and watching the sales on the meats I use.

This way also makes it great when the kids drop buy because I always have extra food on hand to have dinner for all of us and to them it is just like the good home cooked meals they had when they were growing up, plus they don't mind if I send some home with them. ... View related article.

RE: Filters for a 4-Cup Coffee Pot
You might also look for whaat they call the permanent filters they have out now I have seen then in Target and Walmart. These are simply a frame of a 4-Cup filter covered with a mesh type washable filter material, they work great and all you have to do is rinse them out. This saves money on purchasing paper filters. ... View related article.

RE: Measuring Shortening (Crisco)
This seems like a hard way to measure shortening when they make measuring cups for measuring dry ingrediants and this is what I have always used when measuring shortening. They have dry measuring cups in all sizes from 1/8 cup up to 1 cup. ... View related article.

RE: Problems With Printable Coupons
I have had problems redeeming coupons printed from the internet sites from time to time but it is seems it is more from who is checking out at the stores. I go to Krogers and Walmarts most of the time in Houston,Tx. and I get a checker from time to time that will say they do not take internet coupons but I can go in to the same stores at other times and the checker I am using takes them with no problem.

I have never seen any signs in any of the stores around here that say they do not take coupons printed from the internet.
You might check with the store manager as to why the have such a policy or check with the stores corporate office asking them the same question. Maybe if enough people complained they would consider changing their policy.

You might be able to check with the manufacturer on what stores and where to use your take their coupons or possibly getting them to redeem the coupons for you with a copy of your receipt on what you have purchased similar to a rebate offer.

You can also get coupons from companies most of the time just by calling them to talk to them about their product not just to complain about it but tell them how much you enjoy it and see if they have any promotions available on coupons, or what other types of promotions they have at the time.

You will really be surprised with what one simple telephone call will gain you from time to time and most products have a "1-800" number to contact them with any complaints, questions or comments.

Good luck on your coupon quest with money being as tight as it is now every little bit of savings you can get helps. ... View related article.

RE: Recycling Coffee Containers
You can cover the coffee container with a decorative shelf lining paper, a lot of them have an adhesive backing or look for wall paper with an adhesive backing. I use them to store flour, sugar, dry beans like Pinto, Navy, Northern and others. They are also good for dry food products like corn meal, cereal, pancake mix and a variety of other dry food products. I hope this helps. I have just recently started covering coffee canisters with shelf lining paper and it really looks good. No one would ever guess it was a recycled coffee container. ... View related article.
