RE: Fleas on a Cement Patio
We recently had a problem with fleas. At the time I had a dog, who stayed outside sometimes and a cat. Well, we got rid of the dog, but we had fleas and my poor cat who never goes outside had fleas. It has taken awhile, maybe about two months, for us to get the fleas under control. I use a flea/tick shampoo on my cat every two weeks, to kill fleas on him, since that is more economical that buying thirty dollers worth of advantage or whatnot. We have vacumed alot, and I even tried putting salt on the carpets, because I heard salt would make the eggs burst and kill the fleas. I'm not sure if it worked or not. We use Termipest and had our house sprayed ( we live in a subdivision), put our cat in the garage and told him not to spray there, and had to leave the house for three hours for the spray to dry. The process had to be repeated two weeks later to kill off all of the eggs that hadn't hatched yet. We also got the house quaterly sprayed at that point in time too. We recently mopped our kitchen and bathrooms and discovered alot of fleas there. It is best to vacum right before the pest man gets there, to open up the carpet so the spray can hold better. And it helps to wait at least a few days before you vacum, as it takes away some of the spray. You have to work at it to get rid of the fleas. But I've also heard of people who didn't have pets, getting fleas from their neighboors at apartments. Good luck. ... View related article.

RE: Spraying Problems from Two Male Cats
I have owned a number of cats, mostly male and the only times I recall having a spraying problem (and pooping problem) was when I had a young male cat who was not neutered and he had some kind of fixation with my bingbag. He would pee and crap on it and we had to get rid of it, but I've had other people tell me that they have seen cats act the same way around bing bags. I also now have a male cat now, who ruined a rug that I loved when he was a kitten and not neutered. For some reason, I don't know what, the cat took to peeing and pooing on the rug everytime he seen it, even though he was litterbox trained. I'm guessing he might of liked it because it was a shag rug or because it had a scent to it. Anyway, if the cat does it on a certain piece of furniture, you might want to get rid of it. Hope you have luck getting him to stop. ... View related article.

RE: What breed is my dog?
By the color on him, I would say that he is part German Shepard or Rottweiler. I've had mixed breeds of both, and they tend to be short, chubby puppies, with big paws, and stout bodies. He sure is a cutie!!! ... View related article.

RE: Seasoning a Cast Iron Pot
As a young Southern gal, I grew up with my Grandma and Mama using cast iron pans, mostly for cornbread and biscuits. I now own a cast iron pan and one of those that make the cornbread sticks, both are 'old' cast irons. I was taught to leave the cast iron in the stove at all times, and when you cook whatever in it, to grease it with shorting. My question is , after an incident where I made a mess of my cornbread stick pan, by dripping batter all over it and then leaving it in the stove to burn off. And then tried to clean it and reburn it, but there are black flakes chipping off of it, to the point where I can see the metal underneath. Do I need to just wash it and reseason it? Thanks yall, for any advice yall send my way! ... View related article.
