RE: Puppy Has Itchy Bug Bites
It really sounds like fleas to me. I had cat get them once and they were really bad in my daughters room. She would wake up in the morning with bites up and down her legs. I had to wash everything in really hot water, flea bomb the whole house and then wipe down ever surface. They will live in carpets for years feeding of dead skin, etc so if they haven't had a problem now it doesn't mean they haven't ever been in there. ... View related article.

RE: Looking for Recipes to Help Gain Weight
My dad had this 12 years ago and he lost over 100 pounds. I am assuming you do not have the stomach tube to feed with nutritional supplements. It took awhile and he still has a lot of trouble but he is now able to eat regular food and is actually overweight. The radiation however killed his saliva glands so he has to take a small drink of water with every bite in order to be able to swallow the food. It takes him a long time to eat but we have all learned patience when eating out with him.

Because of the scarring in his throat he has had to learn by trial and error what will work for him. Thing will get caught in there. He once coughed up a peanut and hadn't eaten them for 5 days. He eats a lot butter, potatoes, sweet potatoes and stuff that can be mashed. Lots of carbs as well. Meat is one of the harder things to chew up, like steaks. Meatloaf however is not. I would think if you were to talk to a nutritionist at your cancer clinic they should be able to give you ideas.

RE: Removing Urine from a Couch
probalby not effectively. Look in either the pet section or baby section at walmart/target and you should find something called Urine gone or something like that. That will probably work pretty well.

Is this human or pet? If it's a pet you need to neutralize the smell otherwise they will continue. I had a cat that had a bladder infection and he would pee in the middle of my daughters bed or in her closet on the clothes. It made me so mad until I took him to the vet. I have found that if you liberally soak in white vinegar it does neutralize cat/dog urine. ... View related article.

RE: Six Year Old Keeps Peeing on the Floor
If it's in his sleep he may be dreaming he is in the bathroom when he is in reality in the bathroom. If this is the case you should try cutting off liquids a few hours before bed so he doesn't have to go during the night.

If this is not the case then it's behavioral. Are you a realatively new step-mom and could he be lashing out as a result? ... View related article.

RE: Washer Not Getting Dust Out of Clothes
I upgraded to front loaders last year and it was the best! If you can't afford it you should try washing in smaller loads, use liquid instead of powder detergent and put white vinegar in your rinse to break down the soap scum. Top load washer use 40+ gallons of water per wash load and you need to literally soak your clothes. If you clothes are really dirty you should only be washing 5-6 items to get proper water circulation. The more clothes, the less the water circulates and the less crud comes out of your clothes.

I would HIGHLY recommend you look into a front load washer. They use about 13 gallons of water total and they get your clothes super clean. My husband is a mechanic and his clothes were never clean before. Now I can wash 6 pairs of jeans, 4-5 shirts on the super load and they are cleaner than I could ever imagine.

Take your work clothes to a laundromate once as they are usually front load washers and you will see what I'm talking about. ... View related article.

RE: Outer Walls of Trailer Getting Wet
I used to live in a trailer as well and we always had problems, especially with the windows. I live in Minnesota so it was always bad. The problem is definately moisture and lack of proper air circulation. The warm air hits the cold walls/windows/whatever and it condensates. When this sits for too long then it will start to mold. My window frames were completely rotten in the place we lived and the walls were paneling with very little if any insulation in them. We had problems in our closets as well as anything up against an outside wall that would start to mold during the winter.

You can try covering your windows in plastic which should help with the window problem.
As for the bathroom do you have a ventilation fan in the ceiling or wall that pulls all the humid air out of there? Hot steamy showers are the culprit but unless you want a cold shower there isn't much you can do except keep the door open when you shower.
As for the closets you may want to either consistently keep the doors closed so the temperature is cooler in there or if not make sure you don't have a lot of stuff stacked on the floors so the air circulates.
I now live in a house and we moved our dresser in our bedroom to paint after it had been in the same spot (outside wall) for 3 years. We had black mold growing on the sheet rock behind the dresser because of moisture and lack of air movement. ... View related article.
