RE: Removing Oil from Hair without Washing
I use rice flour. It brushes/combs out easily. It does not matter brown or white, I grind in my blender a handful or so of the grains, then store in a clean used spice jar. ... View related article.

RE: Alternative to Soaker Hoses
Hi Viki,
I have successfully and happily used PVC piping with holes drilled into it at various spacing to grow all my organic fruit and vegetables. I use raised beds with the PVC connected in two rows down the middle of each bed. I have a main line of PVC connecting to the smaller rows, and shut off/on valves at each row to allow watering as needed. I live on property with well water, so there is always the need to conserve. All my plants are started from heirloom or organic seeds. I cover each bed heavily with organic compost which further aids the water conserving. Make sure you plant close to the pipes, and near your drilled holes. I'll happily give you more details if you like. ... View related article.

RE: Planting Trees In Clay Soil
You did not mention the tree(s) location, sun, shade, etc, so here are a few ideas based on your Zone 6, and clay soil...near a street or heavily traveled zone with cars: Trident Maple, Dawn Redwood, Nootka Cypress; in the shade: White Oak, Red Oak, Sargent Cherry; Evergreens: Spruce, Sweet Bay Magnolia, White Pine; Flowering Tres: Bradford Pear, Flowering Cherry. For the clay soil, make sure you are raising the bed on which the tree lies for good drainage. ... View related article.
