Just because a website said there are no Brown Recluse spiders in Florida, I wouldn't necessarily believe it. We were told there were none in San Francisco, yet my granddaughter spent two weeks in the hospital, deathly ill, after being bitten by one. Its poison has permanently damaged her immune system. We had captured the spider and the SF Zoo identified it as such, to their amazement. Evidently, they can be carried coast to coast and border to border by travelers, movers, all kinds of trucking companies. This is a truly nasty spider. Its poison has permanently damaged her immune system. You need to get a professional in to rid your house of them; they know how to protect your pets. ... View related article.

Dear dyan818, You must be a wonderful caretaker to have your pet survive for so long with kidney failure!
I had a similar problem with my 16 year-old cat after we moved from the West Coast. He was not only urinating and defecating on the wood floors, but also on the furniture. After having him checked by the vet (who gave him a clean bill of health), I restricted him to the bathroom for several months, feeding him there, and giving him plenty of attention and affection while he was "incarcerated". Thank goodness, my furniture was ScotchGuarded, which took care of the stains; but it took a hint from another member of TH to finally get the odor out.....Listerine Mouthwash! After all the other products I used - bleach, vinegar, baking soda, commercial products, etc. didn't work, this one was a miracle. I diluted it half and half in a spray bottle, applied it everywhere he had visited, let it dry and all the odors were gone! The Listerine aroma faded in a few days. It did no harm to my floors, rugs or furniture. I was then able to reintroduce him to the rest of the apartment and since he couldn't smell his former potty areas, he has returned to his litter box and has remained faithful to it ever since. Although confining your cat may seem drastic, it serves as a method of retraing him. Just make sure he is comfortable and gets lots of extra attention and affection.
If you cannot remove the black stains from your floor with bleach, you might consider sanding it and refinishing, which is a lot cheaper than replacing the floor. Check with your local hardware store for products that are made just for this problem. Good luck! ... View related article.
Having some difficulty myself, I merely dip the end of my yarn or thread into a little melted wax and before it cools completely, flatten the end, let it cool and it slips right through. Then I either peel off the wax or trim the end of the yarn or thread. I save my candle stubs, used birthday candles, etc. for just this purpose.
Try The Vermont Country Store (www.vermontcountrystore.com). I have seen Tabu products in their catalog, although I can't promise you that they have the product you're seeking. I would call their 800 number (from their website) and speak to a real person. Their catalog is fabulous! All kinds of products that seem to have disappeared over the years can be found here. And if you're ever in Vermont, drop into one of their stores for a trip back in time. It's a great experience! ... View related article.
Actually, it is only the acetone type polish remover that is recommended to remove nail glue. Just apply it to a cotton ball, squeeze out the excess and be very, very careful that none get into the working parts of the phone.
Nadine is correct. Since the glue has cured (hardened) that's the only way you can remove it. In the future, if you need to use glue on good wood furniture, use Elmers Wood glue or carpenter's glue with clamps, if necessary, but never Crazy Glue or Monster Glue. Any mistakes made with carpenter's glue can be easily removed. I learned this from my Dad who was a cabinet maker. Good luck. ... View related article.
Break up the snack bone in small pieces and feed him a little at a time. Swallowing the whole snack bone runs a risk of him choking and may cause his death. ... View related article.
Go to your shoe repair store and pick up a bottle of liquid shoe stretcher (there are several brands) - you just apply it where your shoes are tight and then walk in the shoes. Your shoes will form to the shape of your foot and not return to their original shape. Also, unlike water, it will not damage the leather or dry it out. You can also find it in stores that carry shoe dyes. ... View related article.
C'mon, Reality Check! My Mom raised 5 girls and made all of our clothes through high school (when we got part-time jobs and bought our own). My Dad was an invalid, so she had to pinch pennies. She made her own clothes, too, and always made our slipcovers, bedspreads, pillow covers, curtains and drapes. I can't imagine how we would have fared it she couldn't sew.
All the pattern makers produce the latest styles, but she never needed them; she created her own from the fashions shown in the weekly papers and we were proud to wear her them....and our friends couldn't wait to see our newest outfits. She even made our suits and coats. She taught us all to sew and it has come in very handy over the years. We still have her old Singer and it still works just fine. It's well worth the time and effort to learn and it is a craft that will last you a lifetime.
The things you make yourself will outlast anything you can buy in a store because it will be better made. If you have a sense of style, you can produce "couturier" clothes for yourself and your family. The newer machines have all kinds of features that simplify your craft - hemmers, buttonhole makers, trim, embroidery etc. If there is a design school in your area, why not sign up for a few classes and give it a try? You'd be surprised at how much satisfaction it will give you AND how much money you will save. ... View related article.
