Hi, I'm a stay at home mom with 2 children. My son just turned 7 & my daugher is 2 1/2. I love finding deals & am always looking for ways to save money (& eventually live debt free, getting the hubby on board with that is quite the task, haha). I also enjoy doing projects with the kids, reading, and organizing (crazy, I know)! I'm new to the site, so please bear with me, I happened to stumble across it while looking online for used book sites :)
Thank you! I will check out the link & give it another try. I've wanted one for years & can't believe I can't quite get it right, haha! ... View related article.
I'm not sure how you would remove it, maybe goo gone? But most stores actually sell these pens that come in a variety of stain colors (got mine at Walmart) you can use over the stain possibly. I have used it many times on dents or scratches on different pieces of furniture (coffee table, chairs, & dresser). ... View related article.
Hi, I love good ol' fashioned ribbons in my 2 1/2 year old daughter's hair. I had a hard time finding them near the hair care items, but found them super cheap near the craft/sewing. I also found somc elearance at Target (smaller spools, but perfect for little ones) for .25, it came with 4 different prints! ... View related article.
Vaseline is the best & cheapest eye make up remover! I just wet a cotton ball or cotton square a little first so I don't get the fuzzies in my eyes, then swipe it into the vaseline & remove my eye makeup. I usually wash my face afterwords as it leaves my skin a little oily, but it washes right off :) ... View related article.
I like to do $5 giftcards to local fast food places (McDonalds, Beef A Roo, Subway, etc), it can get expensive, so I usually do them for the "bigger" games & for smaller games (like bday bingo) I just buy large boxes of candy (usually $1, or less) & put them in cute bags. It's alot better than the plastic junky toys kids throw away. If this is for adults, maybe you could do cheap candles (check Michaels clearance, I found great sutff for a quarter). Movie theater tickets would be a great prize too, or even $5 to a local video rental store along w/ a bag of popcorn or something like that :) ... View related article.
Hi there, we did a camo/Marine party for my son's 3rd bday. It was a huge success. We found camo invites & then just used green/brown plates, napkins, etc (they were only $1/pkg at Walmart). We did buy a few camo decorations from Oriental Trading & made posters with stencils, markers & paint that had popular Marine sayings (Semper Fi, etc). I also found camo fabric at the craft store for super cheap & used that instead of expensive goodie bags, filled it w/ cheap candy like bubble gum, bubbles that we made stickers on the computer for with "Thanks for celebrating Wyatt's 3rd Birthday with us", the little green army guys ($1 at Dollar Tree for like 100 of them), etc. I then tied it with a ribbon, they were a huge success! I also saved $ by making my own cupcakes & doing a camo icing w/ food coloring ($2.50 for the basic color pack at Target) & used the army guys on top.
I also recommend splurging on the individual icecream cups, well worth it!! I just changed classic party games: instead of Simon Says, we said General X says, made a poster of an army guy like pin the tail on the donkey, I made a really cute book game also for the game (for the older kids, while the younger kids played fishing the army guys out of a tub with rice outside). The book game is pretty cool, I use it for all my parties. It's like the one used at wedding showers (I don't know if you have played that, but I have it so I can email it to you). It's really fun, and the person who ends up with the book at the end of the rhymes wins, you basically read the directions to the rhyme on each page & then pass the book to the next person (for example it will have a rhyme & say now pass the book to the person with the bluest of eyes, or biggest shoe, or used a green toothbrush today, etc). Everyone loves it & it's a good icebreaker for the kids, gets them talking.
This probably sounds confusing on the post, but I'd be happy to email it to you if you are interested. I just printed a cover page w/a pic of my son & then the rhymes I changed to fit the party theme. We just did a Chicago Cubs party, so all the rhymes were things like "The Cubbies are Red, the Cubbies are Blue, Now pass this book to the person sitting to the right of you" and "Let's hope the Cubs keep hitting the ball up up & away, now pass this book to the person with the most recent birthday" etc. I used one of those clear covers w/ the plastic sleeve to make it into a book.
For food, I always label the food to coordinate the theme. We had Devil Dogs (the little smokies in bbq sauce), Private's Punch, Tank Tortillas, etc. It seems to be the little things like that people always compliment on. Good luck & have fun! ... View related article.
Whille I have to say I agree with you, I also have sympathy for those people. I too am guilty of living off too much credit, and have been spending the last 2 years changing the way we live and appreciating the things we do have. It's going to be alot of work to fix the credit mess we have acquired, but we have learned alot! Hopefully our children won't make the same mistakes we were "lectured" about making (and still did, haha). But honestly, I feel blessed to have learned all I have through all of this. I only wish the people who have no choice but to make lifestyle changes would realize this. We know many people who let it change who they are and the way they view themselves, which is a shame! Life is too short, enjoy what you do have & find happiness in the simple things, it will change you :) ... View related article.
Oh no, I'm sorry, this happened to us about a year ago & the blue flarp is still in the carpet, I tried everything including trying to heat it w/ a hairdryer to cut it out....Good luck with that. Hopefully you will get something that works & I can move the rug I conceal it with & give it a try :) ... View related article.
