| RE: Deck is Slippery When Wet |
|
Living in south Florida, our wooden deck gets lots of rain. Staining didn't last long and was prone to mildew. We decided to try painting it. With the first attempt, we realized the paint made the deck slick. We learned that Sherwin Williams carries a product called Shark that is mixed with the paint to prevent this. (Home Depot carries a similar product.) ... View related article. |

| RE: What Color Should I Paint My Kitchen Cabinets? |
|
A very pretty creme (Just be sure to see what hint of other color it has in it.) with some nice dark hardware would look great. You'd still have a neutal color, but it wouldn't be the stark white. Then you could put a pretty color on your walls. OR Depending on the colors (if they are fairly neutral) in the tile, you could choose a color in that family. ... View related article. |

| RE: Hair Coloring Advice for Highlighted Hair |
When the economy tanked, one of the things I gave up was my hairdresser (besides the frequent increases at her shop). A friend told me about L'oreal Performance Creme hair color and I've been using it for over a year. It's inexpensive (@$7.00 and there are frequently coupons out there) and not hard to do. I color my hair about once a month.
It comes out darker (It looks as it did pre-coloring then slowly fades over the next four weeks but still looks good.) It covers my dark roots and the grey. Just know this will cover your highlights at first. (But after 40 years of highlighting, I let mine grow out using this coloring and it kept it from looking bad during that time.) My sister-in-law uses one of those self highlight kits and her hair looks great. ... View related article. |

| RE: Remedies for Dry Skin |
I have the same problem and it gets worse during cold, wet weather. I've been to dermatologists for years. They've tried several things, but nothing really took care of the problem. I wasted time and money. When we moved to Denver, I was told that the skiers used Bag Balm.
It's a product that is used on cow udders to keep them from cracking in cold weather. (You can buy it in some pet stores, livestock feed stores, some drugstores, or on-line.) It is inexpensive and works well. The only problem is that it has a medicinal odor, so you may want to use it at night. I believe there is a similar product out there that doesn't have a smell. ... | RE: Paint Color for Beige Sofas |

Great sofas! I agree with staying in the brown family. I would use a medium tan or a light to medium brown. Then you could use the same shade of green, plus some golds, etc. as accents. ... View related article. |

| RE: Tips for Selecting Dog Food |
|
I know it costs more to buy a high quality dog food ( such as Wellness, Dick Van Patten, etc.), but it can save you money in vet bills and give you a healthier dog. (We have an American Bulldog that has allergy issues. Our vet recommended that we stay away from foods that contain wheat, corn, rice, and chicken (allergy triggers). We put him on the Dick Van Patten and it has really helped. ) Make sure you check the protein amount, as boxers are high energy dogs. ( If you really want to read about dog foods and some of the junk that goes into the cheaper brands, check out The Whole Dog Journal.) ... View related article. |

How about a distressed (soft) black cabinet with knobs in the same metal tone as your faucet? This way it doesn't stand out but still looks nice. I'd use the blue in the counter top as one of your accent colors. ... View related article. |

| RE: Ideas for a 50s Dance |
|
My daughter's school has a 50's dance every year. They make decorations that look like old records, juke boxes, old cars, etc. and put them walls and hang them from the ceiling. They also rent a jukebox and have pictures made in front of it. They serve chips, hot dogs, sodas from that era (Orange and Grape Crush, RC, etc.) The cakes are shaped like records with black icing that has grooves in it. They even put a paper label on the center. Some owners of old 50's cars park them out front of the school for photo opts. But the best is the music and the poodle skirts, etc. that they wear. ... | RE: Window Treatment for Sliding Doors |
|
I know they are more expensive, but plantation shutters are great. I have them on all my sliding glass doors and many of my windows. I got tired of changing drapes when I changed my decor, for the shutters go with everything. It's easy to control the amount of light you let into the room, plus you can direct the light so that it is indirect. They are also easy to clean.(They don't trap dust as easily as drapes do.) A gentle push is all it takes to open or close them. Mine are over 12 years old and I have had no problems. ... View related article. |
