For that great recipe for rhubarb , pineapple & jello jam, after peeling the rhubarb I cut it into approx 2" pcs then with the pineapple put it all in the food processor. It turned out really good, I don't like chunks of fruit in jam. by the way I would like to thank the one who sent in the recipe for the "jello jam" it is SO easy! Yes, the water must be tepid, not hot or cool, & I always make sure that the yeast is on top away from the water, as one of my bread makers heats up for a while before starting to mix, but since I found out about adding 1 to 3 teaspoon of lemon juice to the water. I make mine like this ,I use 2 bread machines though so that I can bake 2 at one time,[also a saving by not baking one at a time], the bread makers will last longer too when they are just used on the dough setting, my daughter's bread machine [ newer than my 2 ] burned out months ago! sometimes I make one of them currant bread, or cinnamon nut bread. & I always put 2 to 3 teasp of lemon juice in with the water - makes a much lighter loaf. ... I have dec' cakes for over 30 years, & the only icing I would use for REALLY hot weather is a royal icing that is made "cutable" by adding a little glycerine, if you can get hold of "Riches Topping " where you are, that is pretty good it is the cream that the "Dairy Queen" uses for their cakes, but I don't know how it would stand up to a really hot day, - best to try it on a small cake before the big event. ... Hi , a few years ago I went to see "the juice man" & the advice that he gave [ which I have used ever since ] was in a large clean bowl, dissolve 4 Tablsp of table salt, when it has dissolved add the juice of 1/2 of a large lemon, this makes an acid wash , leave larger items for 2o min' & berries for 10 min, I leave grapes for 20 min as they have been sprayed SO many times, you must rinse everything REALLY well, hope this helps you. ...
