| RE: Apple Noodle Kugel Recipe |
I have a recipe for Plum Noodle Kugel. You could probably substitute apples for plums.
6 oz noodles (any kind, bow tie, egg noodles etc.) 3 eggs 1 tsp cinnamon 1 cup soft unseasoned bread crumbs 2 tbsp melted butter 3 3/4 c plums, quartered and pitted 1 cup sugar 1 cup applesauce 1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)
Cook noodles in boiling water til barely tender. Drain and rinse in cold water. Beat eggs. Add sugar and cinnamon; mix well. Toss noodles in egg mixture. Stir in plums and apple sauce. Pour into a buttered 2 qt casserole. Combine bread crumbs, melted butter and nuts. Sprinkle over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until golden. Serve warms.
I've also used canned plums and it works out well. My grandmother used to make plum dumplings and this tastes pretty close to those, which were awesome! Hope you like it! ... View related article. |

| RE: Pierogie Recipes |

Here's a real easy one. Take 6 pierogies(we use homemade ones or ones we get through our ethnic church). Place in greased square bake pan. Cover with one can cream of potato soup. Sprinkle bread crumbs over this. Dot each pierogie with butter. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Enjoy! ... View related article. |

| RE: Plum Kuchen |
Wow, there are more people like me out there. These were always my favorites growing up. I loved September, when the plums are at their best. My grammy would make these. I've made them a few times, and also the plum noodle casseroles(often). This recipe is cheating, but the taste is there.
FYI, canned plums work very well when you can't get the right ones. ... View related article. |

| RE: Keeping an Inside Dog Occupied |
This sounds like a question I could have written. I have four dachshunds, and they follow me around all day. They die to go out, but if I pop back in the house, they all come in through the doggies door.
Sometimes I just sit on the couch and they all pile on top of me. But at least they settle down. I wish they could do crafts or color, ha ha. Sorry I couldn't help, but I share your pain. ... View related article. |

| RE: Flour Stuck in Sifter |
Thank you, I did try that. The flour just clumps up thicker and gets stuck. Then it dries into a hard ball. I've tried blowing it out with the hose on the sink too, but that doesn't work either.
My mom suggested a toothpick. I have a long cake tester with has gotten some of the pieces out, but it sure is time consuming and only gets little bits out. Then of course I'll also have to do this everytime. I never had this problem with my old sifter because it only had one screen. It seems that with this style, I'm stuck witht his problem. ... | RE: Odor While Dog is in Heat |
|
I'm not sure if this will help - but one of my dachshunds has problems with her anal sacs. When they are full, they give off a horrible odor. If it gets on you, you want to burn your clothes. I need to manually express them and then give her a bath. Anyway, being in heat may cause your sweetie to be unable to express the sacs naturally. ... View related article. |
