| RE: Cheap Summer Drinks for Kids |
This recipe came DIRECTLY from www.hillbillyhousewife.com - I have making these for quite some time now for my children (and myself!) NOTE: My blender only needs about 15 SECONDS to make a slushie. 30 seconds makes a Hawaian Ice type of treat. I personally use the Clover Valley brand (Dollar General Stores name brand) of unsweetened "kool-aid" - 10 for $1.00 and they have a stronger flavor than any other brand I have tried. VERY GOOD & VERY CHEAP!
Slushies · 2 cups ice water · 1 packet fruit-flavored drink mix (use your favorite flavor) · 2/3 cup sugar · 4 cups or 1 full tray of ice cubes You need a blender to prepare this recipe. Put all of the ingredients into your blender. It will be about 2/3 to 3/4's full. Put the lid on. Process the mixture on high for a full minute. Stop the blender, use a spoon to stir it a bit. Look for unchopped ice chunks. If all the chunks are grated up, then go ahead and serve it. You may need to process it for another full minute though. Serve immediately. I usually have to spoon this out of the blender with a measuring cup because the mixture is so thick. Makes 4 - 8oz servings. I cannot praise this recipe enough. It costs less than 25¢ for the whole batch, or about 6¢ per serving. ... View related article. |

| RE: Thin Pizza Crust Recipe |
|
Not too long ago, I accidently made thin crust pizzas. I think the hot water I put in was TOO hot and it killed the yeast. My dough didn't rise, but I hand stretched it into the pans anyway. It was the best pizza I ever made! ... View related article. |

| RE: Dogs Digging In My Flower Garden |
|
Moth balls or crystals sprinkled around the perimeter of the beds might help. Most animals (including snakes and bugs) can't stand the smell. I put the balls around the outside of my house to keep away snakes, mice, ants, etc. (We live in the BOONIES!) They do not seem to affect the grass or shrubs, but I don't how they would affect flowers if placed too close to them. Never thought about it until just now, but we have three dogs, and they have not dug any holes where the moth balls are. ... View related article. |

| RE: Ant Hill in a Flower Bed |
|
We have problems with fire ants down here in Mississippi, USA. We sprinkle grits on and around any ant hills. The ants eat them and carry them to the queen ant to eat. After the grits are eaten, when the ants drink water, the grits swell up enough to kill them. We put out grits a few days before it rains to ensure they'll have water to drink after their feast. This is the only non-toxic method I know of. P.S.-Grits are dried, ground hominy corn. They are a bit bigger than cornmeal. ... View related article. |

| RE: Southern Sweet Tea Recipe |
|
Hey! I am from Maben, Mississippi and here's how we do it! Bring one quart of fresh cold water to a rolling boil, drop in one family size tea bag, cover the pot and remove from heat. Let sit for ten minutes. Put one cup of sugar into a gallon pitcher (more or less according to taste). Remove tea bag from and pour over sugar, stir until dissolved. Fill pitcher with cold water and stir. I have made tea in the microwave by boiling the water in it first, then following the above recipe (I put a dinner plate on the microwaveable bowl to cover it). I have also put the tea bag into the basket of my coffee pot (with no filter and 10 cups of water) to make the hot part then pouring that into the pitcher with the sugar and adding the cold water. ADDITIONAL NOTES: My little sister uses 2 family size tea bags because she likes it stronger - my older sister uses 1 1/2 cups sugar because she likes it sweeter and our Mama uses 1 cup Splenda because she's on the Atkins Diet! ... | RE: Permanent Marker On Rubber |
|
The only thing I have found to take out permanent marker is a product called "oops!". I don't know if it can be used on rubber or not. If not, you could just take a black permanent marker and draw a big circle or square over the price - or make a stripe all the way across the bottom - who knows- maybe folks will think it's a fancy new shoe marking!! Good Luck! ... View related article. |

| RE: Wedding Decorations Using Ivy, White and Silver |
|
I am an interior decorator and my suggestion is to use white lacy fabric bought in bulk to decorate your tables with. I don't know what types of discount stores are over there, but I'm sure you can find some cheap. You could put cheap white material (or sheets) on the tables first, the top with the lacy fabric. You could also swag the lacy material and make "poofy" gathers with rubberbands at the corners of the tables. You could then wind your fresh ivy around the gathers and across the swags. Ask around, maybe you could get some ivy for free from someone's garden. You can use the ivy in great big bunches in containers for table centerpieces with maybe a silver taper candle in the middle. You can spray paint white candles to make them silver and you can also spray paint some of the ivy to make it silver as well. You could also buy a few yards of silver lame' cloth to use as a accent color on the tables (put some siver fabric down in the middle of the table, then set your ivy/candle centerpiece on top of that). You can use this same lace swag, ivy and silver cloth theme to swag the top of a doorway or even on a wall, like behind the cake table. Maybe this will help you get your creative juices flowing! Good Luck!! ... View related article. |

| RE: Removing Cat Urine Smell from Plastic Picnic Table |

I would try spraying it with full strength white vinegar. I know vinegar will remove odors from plastic containers so I think it might just work on your table. Put on the vinegar and let dry (you might have to do this several times) then scrub with soap and hot water. ... View related article. |
