RE: Removing Set In Stains From Clothing
I had bought Simple Green spray as an alternative to 409. I didn't like the way it worked for than, so I put it beside the laundry to try using it as a stain remover.

Boy, did it work! Stains that had been set in clothes for 5-6 years that I thought would never come out (re-washing it several timred over had turned it into a it into a "perma-stain" came right out in one wash. I now use it for all my stains! ... View related article.

RE: Empty Milk Carton for Watering Plants
I don't know about the milky part, but I use an old syrup bottle to water the small plants I have. It reduces the spillage onto leaves I have encountered more than once while watering indoor plants, and it helps the environment, too! ... View related article.

RE: Gift Giving on a Budget
One year I was particularly cashed-strapped and therefore forced to shop with an extremely limited budget. I ended up getting "creative" with my gifts and made many of the things I gave to people.
Not only did I have fun thinking creatively, the gifts ended up being a more personal reflection of the person receiving the gift, and were greatly appreciated.
Although no longer cash-strapped, I enjoyed this process so much that I try and do it every year now! ... View related article.

RE: Characteristics of Cast Iron
If it is small enough to fit in the oven, here is what I do with iron pans.
Scrub the sign clean (using soap is OK if rinsed well), then towel dry. Place it in an oven at 250 degrees and leave it until a drop of water evaporates quickly. Then treat the iron (also callef "seasoning" with vegetable oil or cooking spray, and place it in the oven for 30 minutes. You mightwant to put an old cookie tray or some tin foil underneath to catch any drippings. Take it out and wipe off any excess oil. Put it back in the oven at the same temp for about 45 minutes. Let it cool som and carefully wipe off the oil, only leaving the basic residue. Then it is ready to use.
Sunce your sign will be outdoors, you might want to check with your local hardware store to see if you should spray some lacquer - or something else - on it to help it endure the changes in the weather.
Good luck! ... View related article.
