Profile For lyndagayle62 - 24/7 Caregiving Grandmother/Homeschool teacher/Gardener/Serious Frugal Recycler/Child of God

By His Grace God has given me a Life I never earned nor deserve! He kept His promises to provide for my needs, a few of my wants, and strengthens me every day in every way as I tend to His Creation within the property He has loaned to me while I sojourn through this one life.

During these exciting but dangerous days, I frugally recycle everything , repair rather than toss wherever possible. My goal is to learn to live lean and clean.  One word to describe my profile is probably over-experienced in too many things/areas.  I do not profess to be a professional in any area any more because I am retired in theory, but in fact work three jobs 24/7, with little time to myself. I'm also a Prayer Warrior full time, believer in MIRACLES, house/garden manager part time.

I love Jesus, family, people, home,  reading, ThriftyFun, gardening, repairing/recycling/ frugal living/ thrifting when I have extra money.  Thanking Him for all the ways He  helps and touches the hearts of those who need Him and help others.

He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  We are the branches and He is the Vine.  Thanks for sharing life with me....  God bless you.  :  )

RE: Does My Dog Sleep Too Much?
Feed him special fresh, not canned food, only when he is awake and when you want him to stay awake while his food is metabolized by his tiny body. If he is not throwing up or having loose movements, he may have a systemic yeast infection, or did indeed pick up something from another dog.

However, if he's still eating, it's a good sign. Make certain he has plenty of clean water as well, and is not too cold. The floor of any room is the clodest area. Also shredded pine shavings in bedding can make an animal very ill. Is he
urinating normally, and does it smell particularly strong?

Acidophylus for pets/children is available in refrigerated section of Whole Foods. It is not a medicine but replaces anything good that might have been harmed within his bowels and mucous membranes. Also, give him no dry cereal or dry foods until he is well. I'd feed him only organic: fish, chicken, as in baby food meats for a time, mixing in a raw slightly beaten egg, some finely chopped broccoli or frozen mixed veggies, with a small amount of reg. white bread crumbs, and sprinkle 1/2 capsule of Acidophylus and mix well. It tastes like milk, and pets don't seem to notice it.

Also always sprinkle food with garlic powder to help make his pest resistance stronger. Use no sprays, chemicals, or bleaches near him or in the same room he is in or might come into. He is much smaller than a human so what might not affect you may be killing him. Be very cautious, alert to every thing you are doing. He may need more petting during any sickness, and may feel you abandoned/ betrayed him to the vet who may have hurt him a bit during an exam? He should begin to respond with TLC and better food.

'No more canned of any brand', is my pet motto, my having lost my two precious young best dogs to what is inside canned dog food: Chopped up diseased animals, according to the officials! I rely heavily on tuna in water, adding my own "small animal vitamins" from the pet store which are not expensive at all. Once he is well, you can then add a very small percentage of dry food. Because he is still young, he may still be teething and need a tiny rubbery toy
to chew on that fits his tiny mouth and makes no noise.

He may miss you if you work, so you could leave the TV on low for him while you are gone on a children's program so he can hear the chatter and laughter of children all dogs love. He may benefit from having a stuffed dog as a "friend"
as well, and should you have another friend with a small dog you could make a play-date for them to romp together? All creatures benefit from companions of their own kind, size whenever possible. If he is weak, crawling near the floor when he walks, that is usually some sort of abusive behavior. Stay alert to all visitors and others who play or hold him who may be sadistically harming him without your knowledge. You are all he has, remember. Wash his bedding
frequently but dry in the sun, if possible.

Also, the added fresher more natural vitamins should help if he is depressed. (Dry foods can make their skin dry and itchy, as well as over-sensitive to petting/ touching. Keep your voice calming and quiet. Is he house-broken by now? If not are you gentle with your scolding or loud and angry? Do you shampoo him, take him to the groomers? All of these things need to be considered which I think you are trying to do. God bless and help you and your dog. : )

RE: Tilex Left Spots on Wooden Table
Your damage is from the acidic Tilex, not from water marks. It more than likely ate through the finish, dulling and even bleaching it partially. If it were mine I'd lightly use fine sandpaper in each spot, then go back over on just the spots, even if it takes a q-tip to get each one, with the closest wood stain that matches your table, making sure that you have shaken and stirred the wood stain well in the beginning, and not stopping the touch-up procedure until done, using a whole box of q-tips if necessary, so that not too much is applied.

The stain should soak just into the spots, then blend nicely into the finely sanded areas surrounding the spots with the least amount of damage. If you have a satin finish on the table top, you will want a satin finished wood stain in the smallest amt. you can find. Test the underneath edge to see if it matches, until you get what is closest. Most woods
have specks and spots naturally, but do your best to barely touch the tip of the q-tip or brush into the stain so you can
control the flow of stain best. If you are more comfortable, a hobby shop will sell a tiny camel hair artist's brush with a long handle you may have to cut off and sacrifice so you can control the brush well. If any of the spots are larger, you can use the tip of your pinky finger to apply the stain on that sized spot.

If your table has ever had wax or lots of oils/polish, it may need a slightly heavier hand in the sanding of each spot. Keep in mind that you are not a pro, that there is no perfect piece of wood, furniture, or person, and don't be too hard on dear mom or yourself if you make a human error or mistake here or there. Her love and thoughtfulness should cover a lot of those imperfections as well. God bless and help you. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Removing Rust From Chrome
Try rust remover for clothing in the smaller bright orange plastic bottle, letting it stay on the rusted area for about ten minutes, wiping, not rinsing, to see if it removed it. If so, Then rinse with cold water. If not, try CLR. Good luck and God bless you. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Grease Stain on Suede
If it were mine, I'd use laundry Twenty Mule Team Borax and rub it is extremely well but not so well as to rub the nap off the suede. You may have to buy a suede brunch after it soaks into the Borax to brush the nap back into suede.

I use it for a number of things and find it does a good job. I'd avoid using water at all costs because it will make the spots stiff when dry. I'm assuming the color is med to dark. If light, you may have an ongoing problem with stains of all sorts. Perhaps you can determine if it's real suede or man made. If real, it might take a waterproofing spray from a shoe repair store to repel future stains? If man made do NOT use any waterproofing because it has silicon in it and can damage man made products. RE: Cleaning Antiques and Collectibles
I thought I had found several bottles of new transmission fluid but realized it was just used fluid for the trash. I took it home and use it exclusively on dark wooden furniture letting it soak in then wiping dry. It lasts, does absolutely no harm, and is free. It's even water resistance on my old oak rocker on the front porch that gets wet every time it rains. As far as removing old finishes, I wouldn't be surprised if it removed any old buildup you didn't want, especially if waxy and if it comes off on your hands or clothing. Try a clean white rag like an old sheet to check it it does come off. If using old Transmission fluid, make certain you wipe it off well, let it dry thoroughly before sitting on it or adding any cushions. Old English is not only expensive, but stains everything in sight, so try the used
transmission fluid on the under side of one piece of your furniture. I'll bet any automotive shop will give you a little if you are willing to wait for it and bring your own container. Mine is slightly reddish in color, so it won't do on light oaks or blonde colored woods, but is perfect on darker
woods, especially mahogany. Good luck and God bless you.

RE: Will Mayonnaise Kill Fleas on Pets?
After cleaning bedding, carpets, floor cracks well, vacuum every piece of furniture, mattresses, and cracks, not missing a thing larger than a speck of dust, then keeping black rubberized mats at all entrance doors to catch loose debris from all shoes before entering house to minimize bringing in flea eggs. Wash all dirty clothing/ linens, at least twice a week, including pet bedding & rugs/ towels separately, drying it on med-high heat. Vacuum twice a week, changing vacuum bags once every two weeks-month, placing filled bags quickly into tightly sealed plastic bag.

After replacing bag wash hands very well with liquid soap/bleach mixture (I prefer liquid Sunlight dish detergent from Fiesta only? mixed with 1/3 that amount of Clorox and a little water).

1)Shampoo pets with strong chamomile tea/l-limonene (lemon or lime concentrate) /baby shampoo in equal amts., letting it stay on towel-wrapped pet in your arms in a warm bathroom for 10 full minutes unless intense distress from pet which means to rinse quicker than the 10 min. soak-in Avoid getting it into eyes. Baby shampoo will be a good substitute if you prefer.

2)Towel and blow dry fur very well, reasurring pet every two seconds in soft voice. Keep in bathroom for additional 30 minutes while further drying/ acclimating to temperature of environment.

3)Change vacuum bag when through cleaning,

4) Recaulk bathtub and floor edges if need be, gently sprinkling diamatacious earth(food grade from Feed Store) prior to flea-bath.

5)Sanitize broom/mop with bleach -outside,

6) In advance make your own flea collar of denim old jean cuff or side seam material by soaking it with DIY lemon ju.(boiled thin-sliced whole lemon in 1 pt. of boiling water steeped overnight) letting fabric dry, then hand sewing it fairly tightly aroung pet's neck (within a little finger's thickness), Can be cut and easily removed if needed, and about once a month.

7) When pet is dry, warm, calmly brush with "lice comb"; feed it regular food sprinkled with fresh powdered yeast, and garlic powder, finely cut organic Bermuda grass, well-mixed in. Balance the pet's diet with half fish, half cereal, one beaten egg, twice daily. Fresh is much better than canned, which contains many harmful chemicals that cause cats to go into heat and yeowl.

8)Provide plenty of water (with added acidophiles), love, and observation/ reassurance. If pet does not go outside, provide 1 crushed tablet of Vit. D3(not plain Vit D) in food daily, (about 1/8th of adult dosage.)

9) Inspect daily for one week. If a single live flea or significant flea-"dirt" is found, repeat the above pet treatment, until none can be found.

10) Trying mopping a small floor section with lemon concentrate water to see if it harms them. If not, use that for two months of cleaning. Spray all fabric furniture, cushions, drapery hems with straight alcohol to minimize dust mites and flea larvae.

11) Use lemon oil to clean all wooden surfaces, tops and sides, including all cabenetry and picture frames, door thresholds, and fireplace hearths/ mantles; Windex for all glass, Formica.

If pet goes outdoors, plan on doing this routine for the rest of its extended life without poisons. Otherwise, until you get the flea problem well under control and/or eliminated. Flea bomb only as a very last resort. Stay out of the home 2 days afterward and open windows for 10-30 minutes before re-entering. Do not breathe air until aired out. Cover all food, dishes, pots/pan, dishpans/ strainers/ appliances/ countertops and pillows with newspaper. Remember to spray any furniture the pet might have gone under, behind.

With multiple pets, you can expect to spend more time and effort with your responsibilities towards them. When they are happy, comfortable, they will repay with much affection in return. God bless you. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Best Anti Aging Cream
Although this sounds wonderful, it also is expensive, so I will have to only dream about it, not able to buy all of those great ingredients. Q: How do you know it is "anti-aging?"

It takes several generations to determine that normally. Perhaps you are using it as common sense rather than actual proven facts? Thank you for the recipe regardless, in case a rich relative passes on and leaves me some inheritance. It would be easier for readers to define the "parts" by teaspoons or tablespoons, with the goal being defined as in "servings"/ per recipe. God bless you. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Cleaning an Iron Skillet
Wait a minute. How's the skillet to get sanitized? Salt doesn't kill anything, and oil just seals in whatever came with the food. Eggs treated this way can cause Salmonella.

My uncle was a cook in WWII who said they never washed their skillets, only kept them warm with hot oil in them all of the time. His advice seemed bad, but the heat must be the sanitizing factor?

It's a pain to have to prepare and reprime? them when they get really dirty.

I have several pieces, pot with handles/lids with grooves, but they still need scrubbing to my satisfaction, so I stopped using them except in an emergency, especially after seeing the way they rust so quickly if not resealed immediately. The totally black charred "all iron" country kitchen of an elder friend was shocking. It reminded me of my family's first and worst mistake in choosing a color for our only bathroom: black!

During the deceptive Y2K scam, I bought a swing-arm hanger rack for cooking in the fireplace with ironware. That was an unnecessary expense, but may well be used yet. I just would hate to think how much junk stuck to a chimney that uses the fireplace as a place to cook. lol : ) ... View related article.

RE: Dog Won't Go Potty Outside in Cold Weather
Next time he potties, take a small piece of his waste and place it on newspapers stacked 4 thick on the floor then praise him with "Good boy, doo-doo on paper!" Keep doing this and one day you will have a paper trained pet you can quickly and easily clean after.

Once in the habit, graduate to "go pee-pee/ doo-doo on paper" command, and attempt for your own conveience to get the animal to "go on command". It worked for my two, but may not work for all?

It's the previous, or any, of their own movement odor they need to be stimulated to doo on paper. Your doggie may be too disappointed in not being able to go outside that he/she's just holding it in, but the smell of what the paper's for will certainly encourage them to relieve themselves eventually RIGHT where you place the old doo. If possible, keep tossing and replacing the newspaper and announce, "Nice and clean paper for pee-pee/ doo-doo" and point to it several times or bend over when you have the dog's full attention and touch the paper as you say those words, or similar words. it's better than a litter box in that the litter can be eliminated and recycling newspaper is frugal.

Don't neglect the exercise of play and/or walking if only with in the apt/or home. Try not to repeat commands too often. If you feel you must, the pet just hasn't learned it yet. God bless and help you. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Thicker Hair
Have no idea about Rosemary, but I prefer to produce my own body production thickness by taking hair, skin, and nails vitamin (all in one), about $4.00, from Dollar General which works VERY well and quickly in all three areas. Nothing else that I have found except Mane n' Tail, which varies from bottle to bottle for some reason, and often makes my hair greasy rather than thick. Follow instructions on either and you can't go wrong. Remember that your hair also needs ZINC as well to grow and thicken and multi-vits/ minerals are never quite "complete". God bless, : ) ...
