Profile For melmarr - Herb Queen

Love gardening!!  I grow herbs, garlic, tomatoes, peppers cucumbers, melons, flowers,beans, carrots.... I have a 6' x 8' garden and also 3 raised beds.

The herbs I have grown: dill, rosemary, sweet basil, Thai basil, bush basil, purple ruffle basil, parsley, Thyme, Lemon Thyme, tarragon, sage, oregano, chamomile, summer savory, winter savory, lemon balm, peppermint, spearmint, marjoram, chives, garlic chives, cilantro, lemon verbena.  

I love vaccum sealing too  !!!!!!

You're right about the paper towel trick. I always put them in my strawberries, raspberries, fresh herbs and lettuce. They'll keep a week that way. In the last week or so I've eaten at least 4 salads that I wouldn't have (out of laziness) eaten normally. The point of the container though is to have it as close to ready to eat as possible, and can even be taken on your way out the door so you only have to think about the dressing. ... To vacuum seal them. Freeze them first on a tray or in a bag, then take them out and vacuum seal them. Freezing first will keep them from collapsing when vacuum sealed. ... View related article.

Salt! Salt will stop them in their tracks, I put Sea Salt on my porch and anywhere else I see them, they are stopped immediately and die. Doesn't have to be sea salt, it's just easier to see where you've put it. ... View related article.

RE: Growing: Basil
It's possible that by throwing the seeds into the same pots that the chemical reaction of the seeds could be telling the plant it has done it's job. Sounds weird but that is what happens with trees, the leaves are putting out chemicals in the fall when they are changing colors that will stop another species of tree from seeding in that area. Trying saving your seeds but not in the same pot. I'm know botanist but it makes sense to me. ... View related article.
