| RE: Pooter (Weimaraner) |

Pooter is beautiful and SO lucky that he landed with you and your husband who don't mind his "defects." He is a happy happy guy! But, as someone else said, grapes are very toxic to dogs so cut those out of his diet. Sounds like he likes plenty of other things to compensate! Thank you for taking such good care of this baby! ... | RE: Using Bamboo Utensils For Cooking |
|
This posting is so timely! Tonight fixing dinner I used my new wooden utensils. While I was washing them, I noticed the same thing you did - weird streaks. I used my thumb to poke at them and discovered it was glue! Gross! Where the wood wasn't filled in or solid, they had used glue as a filler. And when you heat the utensil up, the glue softens. Those things went right into the trash! Amazing and disgusting! ... View related article. |

| RE: Charlie The Dog |
Charlie looks like a lab mix to me. Maybe even a pure bred lab. If you bought him from a pet store, I'm surprised they didn't know - esp if they were "selling" him!? Anyway, thank you for choosing a black dog. Do you know that black dogs have the hardest time find homes? There is actually something called the Big Black Dog Syndrome because black dogs don't show well, they blend in to the back of their cages and people are afraid of black dogs. Sounds ridiculous I know but google it and you'll see that it is an actual thing. Charlie is a handsome, handsome guy! ... View related article. |

Thank you so much for taking both dogs. We also have 2 brothers that are lab mixes. They are inseparable and love each other very much. We meant to only keep one and find a home for the other one (they were strays someone dumped in our neighborhood) but when we saw how close they were, there was no way we could not keep them both. They are the joys of our lives, as I am sure your's are to you. Thank you again for not separating these babies! ... View related article. |

| RE: Caring for Stray Cats |
What you are doing is admirable however, you are dealing with a feral colony of cats that will continue to multiply forever unless you can get someone to help you start a catch, spay/neuter and release program. I am not sure what your local vet situation is but perhaps you can get one of them to work with you on low cost or free spay/neuter for these cats.
I agree with the person who suggested you contact Best Friends. They are a wonderful organization and will sometimes fund projects. They might be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.
I am a huge animal lover so please take what I am going to say in the spirit that I am offering it. As long as you continue to feed these cats without spaying/neutering them, you are only making the problem worse. Now you are giving them the means of survival without doing anything to control the population. As you can see, it quickly spirals out of control and becomes totally overwhelming. And the cats will get sick and suffer. I'm sorry but there is no easy answer -- either stop feeding them or find a way to spay/neuter them.
Thanks again for having a loving heart! ... View related article. |

Are you taking your puppy in the cabin with you? A puppy that young would not do well in the cargo hold and I definitely wouldn't recommend it! If you are taking him or her in the cabin with you, get something called Rescue Remedy (available online) and administer it to the pup every hour. You can put it in his/her water before the trip and during the trip you can pet it right into his/her coat. Go to www.rescueremedy.com and order the remedy for dogs. It really works! ...
