RE: Traveling In a Car With Kids
An important note about car dvd players. I hadn't thought of this before, but last week my son's babysitter took him on errans in her new van with a dvd player. It wasn't long before he got car sick. Just in case someone is thinking of buying one- you may be wasting your money if your kids get car sick easily. This is only the 3rd time my son has ever been car sick so it made me wonder. Also- if you have a regular little tv or tv vcr combo- you can buy an adapter for your cigarette lighter so you can plug in a regular set for about 10 bucks at any electronics department. This works great for occational long trips. ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive Frames Needed
The best way to make a calandar picture look more like art is to put it in a mat along with a frame. I have also filled in the little hole where you hang the picture by taping a piece of paper on the backside and coloring the hole with a colored pencil to match the area. Or you could paint a square on your wall a different color then mount four or six pictures in that area with plenty of space between them to let the accent wall color through with no frame to give it a modern artsy look that makes a large focal point. A different look is to buy white foam insullation panels at the hardware store, cut them to the size of your picture and glue the picture to it using spray adhesive. If you cut it a little smaller than the picture you can fold the picture over the sides to make it look like a canvas. Have fun! ... View related article.

RE: Sewing Material Help ASAP!
I remember being a desperate teenager who used to sew my dresses. If it was me I would experiment with a plain tulle and creating the polk a dots myself with different methods like stamping them on with fabric paint or making a template and spray painting the dots on. I hope you get something to work. I look back on those situations fondly because they really taught me how to be creative! ... View related article.

RE: Keeping Mildew From Coming Back
Usually mildew forms if there is excessive humidity in your house and it is worsened with warm indoor temperatures. Maybe this is more common in other areas of the country than in the midwest where I am from, but I would suggest you check your house for moisture sources frrom the following areas; running the shower without running an exhast fan in your bathroom, a dryer vent that is not hooked up correctly or venting to the outdoors, cooking a lot without a vent hood that exhasts outdoors, gutters and downspouts that are plugged up or disconnected and not pulling water away from the foundation or having the dirt around your house slope in toward the foundation, any exhast fans that vent into the attic and not through the roof, or an attic with exhast vents that have been closed up (you should have some air flow from the outdoors in most attics). Sometimes sealing up your house too tight with plastic on the windows can contribute and obviously running a humidifier would make this worse. It also depends on your heating system- if it is something other than gas forced air it may be contributing somehow. I hope you can correct it because there are concerns that having mold or mildew in your house may be a health hazard. Good luck. ... View related article.

RE: Frugal Solution Needed For Extremely Dry Feet and Callous Removal
Mary Kay's Extra Emolient Night Cream is close to a miracle product. Even better yet is to buy the entire set it comes in called Satin Hands or Satin feet. It isn't cheap to buy but it works 5 times better than anything else and lasts a long time. Lotion just doesn't even compare to it. It's like it fixes your skin instead of rubbing grease on top of it. My mother in law used it on an old dried rabbit skin that was dry and stiff like a piece of wood and it turned it into a very soft and supple hide. It was amazing. ... View related article.

RE: Run Out of Bisquick
I have never made bisquick biscuits, but here is my from scratch recipe that we use all the time. I usually double the recipe because my family loves them.

Easy Drop Biscuits
2 c flour (can use 1c white, 1c whole wheat)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c milk or water
1/4 c oil
Mix dry ingredients, then measure water or milk in the same container at the same time, then dump into the center of the dry ingredients. Stir just until blended, if they are a bit powdery this is just right. Drop large scoops of dough with a soup spoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 20 minutes. You can pat the biscuits to shape them, but my family likes the crispy edges that come from leaving them untouched-up. The insides are fluffy and light. These are absolutely best straight from the oven, but they keep alright on the pan with a dish towel over them or in a zip lock bag left open to retain some crispness (after they are totally cool).

I have also made gravy using 2 cups water, 2 tsp bullion (or whatever is suggested on the package) and 1/2 cup flour. Stir together and heat in a sauce pan until thick and bubbly, season with pepper to taste. ... View related article.
