Profile For Ladybugv2 - Control your financial future

Hello from the state shaped like a mitten. Yep. Michigan. We have four of the five Great Lakes that border us. I have raised three children on our former hog farm with a husband married the past 39 years. We have been through the tough times and have frugal stories that I've not shared, but vividly recall with each of your frugal stories. I started driving school bus to make a few dollars for those things we couldn't raise ourselves back in 1980. I've been touched by many a child with this work. Now I also am working a business from home to take me from that early morning, defrosting a 40 foot vehicle. I have been in a huge remoldeling of over nine years of a 150 year old farm house that would have caved in had we not gotten the "bright" idea to do a huge fixer-upper. My grandkids number seven and I think they are the best gifts I've ever received. I credit the Lord for keeping me sane through all these times.

RE: Fruit Floats to the Top When Canning
I wondered if you have a good tasting recipe for plum jam? Most of the store varieties are bland, not like a plum tastes. Do you use any of your canned plums to make jams? ... View related article.

RE: Using Stale Banana Loaf
One recipe my daughter uses at her restaurant is Banana Bread French toast. Make the egg/milk mixture to dip the slices in and cook on a frying surface, turning to brown both sides. Serve with fresh banana slices and powder sugar dusted over the top. ... View related article.

RE: Tips for House Cleaning Business
HI, LaLa, You requested if we knew of safer cleaners in your post. You are wise, because if you are using chemicals that get onto your skin, eyes, or even are inhaled, eventually your health could be compromised. I did not know this when younger and burned my lungs mixing everyday household cleaners. If you want to learn more about how and where safer and cheaper than store brands exist (with no child proof safety caps because they are that safe) go to wwwdotresidualincomeheredotcom and take the healthy home tour at the bottom of the page. I can be reached from that information. ... View related article.

RE: Susan: ThriftyFun Says Goodbye
Susan would have been my kindred spirit. I wish I could have met her. What a wonderful eulogy of a great woman who followed up on her ideas, unlike many of us who only do lip service to our dreams. I'm moved and inspired more than you know to step out in faith to believe that what one thinks really matters and can be such a help and inspiration to so many, as was hers to us. Blessings on her family. Carol Vitu ... View related article.

RE: Bread Dough Sticking to Towel
Here's a trick I learned from professionals. I use this for both times the dough rises. Take a large plastic bag, depending on the size of your bowl, or pans, and snap it open. Place the bowl or pan in the bag and then trap as much air as possible to form a dome over the pans or bowl. Now twist the end of the opening to make an air seal and tuck under so as to prevent this "balloon" from deflating and touching the dough. It isn't hard to do and the humidity entrapped keeps the dough moist and makes an atmosphere that beats all other techniques to keep it from drying out while rising. Carefully undo the twisted end at the end of time for rising and place your hands inside the bag to carefully keep the contents from contacting the now opened bag. I can reuse the same clean bag for other times. The only precaution is do not use garbage size bags that have been pretreated with a pesticide, since that would possibly convey to the dough. ... RE: My daughter is being bitten by unknown bugs!
I was wondering if it could be spiders? I have had similar episodes and the next day turned the furniture stand next to the bed upside down. There were fine webs and small, long legged spiders. I have also swept all the areas under each piece in the room, windows, bookcases, etc. Tea tree oil soothes these bites. Perhaps you could try spraying a solution of the oil mixed with some water on the bed linens. I know this keeps insects in motels from being bothersome whenever we have traveled. I know how important it is to use nontoxic agents. I use nothing but in our home because my body reacts to others. I would never use bleach or nail polish directly on the skin. In less than 30 minutes those enter every organ through your skin. I never knew this information but actually have seen my health improve by ridding them from use. That's why transdermal patches are used for quit smoking, nausea, hormone replacement, etc. ... View related article.

RE: Has Anyone Used StickySheets?
Forget the sticky sheets. Get a pair of gloves used for cleaning, dish washing, etc. at the dollar store. While you are wearing them, use your hands to "palm off" the hair into a pile. This is so much faster. The rubber friction does the trick. Carol in Michigan ... View related article.

RE: Framing Old Business Cards
Loved the idea of saving family history, even as small as a business card. Some business cards of those that I've collected for the art would be ideally displayed this way. My hubby and grandfather's business cards are now going to be incorporated in this artful idea. I like it! And it figures a great idea would come from a woman named "Carol". I wonder how many Carol's are artistically creative as you and myself? Remember hearing about gatherings of men named "Bob". I should start a blog for women named "Carol".
