Although Zep costs more you do not have to use as much as that cheaper cleaner, The Works. I used Zep products when I did commercial cleaning 20 years ago. I agree - you cannot substitute baking soda or anything else I know of for Washing soda. They are two very different items.
Washing soda can be found at HEB and Kroger stores in the laundry aisle. The artwork is similar to a box of baking soda but the box is about the size of a cereal box.
