I think one of the best ways to earn money for a group is to have a large yardsale. You can have all the members family donate items, you will be surprised at how much people will give to just get rid of stuff. Volunteer to go get items for people. It is a lot of hard work but it pays off. Set up in a parking lot, alot of business owners will be willing if it's for a good cause. Price stuff to sale!! You can assign different members different tasks, tagging, sorting, taking money, putting up signs everywhere! And then others to take it down, but as it winds down go cheaper on the prices so you don't have to pack stuff up. I know of several groups that have done this and they all have done well. Good Luck! ... View related article.
I have tons of iris and I actually use the weedeater to take them down in the summer. Allow the leaves to stay a while after they bloom so they will get good "energy" to the tubers. The most improtant part of good blooming iris is that the tubers are exposed, I also live in TN so our weather is not so harsh. I always make sure that they are not too tight ( I actually just pull some out like carrots) then make sure that the tubers are not covered. When you first replant seperated iris you can take them down further so that they will set in but they eventually will rise up to the surface on their own just make sure you get all of the leaves and mulch off of them. If you do this you should see good blooms this year, mine bloom at varying times according to where they are in my yard. I have a lot blooming now but I will have another wave in the summer. ... You can try hair spray I've never used it on satin but I know it works on cotton. I would test it on the inside seam of the dress. ... View related article.
Hi Maggie, I work in Home health and believe it could benefit your parents greatly. Many times the reason that people are reluctant to accept help is because they think that someone will come into their home and find out that they can't take care of themselves and they will be placed in the nursing home. It is a valid concern. But if your parents are homebound or even just one of them, Home health services would be paid for under their medicare benefit.
HH can provide an aid for bathing, nurses for med mgt and teaching, therapy if they need it. Also if they qualify for the medicare waiver program it pays for respite care, sitters, housecleaning and even some shopping. If either of your parents are Vets they will qualify for even more benefits.
What you need to do is research HH's in their area and then call them they can tell you about all their services. After that call their MD and discuss it with him or her. If your mother has terminal cancer she may be eligible for hospice services.
The goal of all these programs is to keep people in their homes as long as possible. I think that if you explain it to your mother in that way she will come around. Make sure that you and your HH are all on the same page so that communication stays open. ... View related article.
You need to check your state to make sure they accept an online course. The course itself is really not that bad and a lot of places actually pay you while you learn. I would check your local nursing homes for programs, also your local votech could help. ... View related article.
Hi Linda, You didn't say what kind of sill that you have but what I did is actually just nailed a larger peice of wood to my sill I painted it to match and it works fine. My cats have fat butts too!! Also you could put some brackets like for shelving and a piece of wider board if you sill isn't sturdy enough to hold by itself. Of course you can always purchase a sill extender just for this purpose but I found mine works great and is not noticeable, the extenders I have seen are, but if you want to spend a more they work! Hope that helps. Michelle ... View related article.
