RE: My House is Falling Apart
Oh, also try calling your local Silver Key, Shriners, and Elks Lodge to see if they have resources available. Also your local United Way Chapter has resource lists that they can give you. I know here in Colorado, you can dial 211 and be connected to the local United Way. Maybe it is the same for you there where you live....Hope some/all of the suggestions here help. Please keep us posted on how things are coming along for you, Denise...We all do care very much. ... View related article.

RE: My House is Falling Apart
Also try your local Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts (2 totally separate, yet great organizations that do community projects to earn badges. I got rid of the furniture & mattresses; vacuumed very thoroughly, very regularly. That was in November '07 and since then, slowly the problem has subsided. About a month ago, we saw ONE Mite on a wall, but nothing since then. It used to be we'd see them a lot, and even wake up with break outs from them. ... View related article.

RE: Preparing For A Winter Power Outage
This is WONDERFUL advice. My brother & sister-in-law got caught in that same ice storm, but down in Oklahoma. They thought they had enough firewood, but ran out before the ice storm did. Unfortunately they were like your friends, depleting quite a chunk of their savings to stay in a nearby hotel. Thank you for submitting this. I just emailed this to them. ... View related article.
