| RE: Stainless Steel Sink Stained By Lime Away |
|
I am a cleaning lady and I have had success with a product called Zud removing stains from metal products, including stainless steel. It is similar to Bar Keepers Friend (contains oxalic acid). The only caution I have is that it is a mildly abrasive powder so I do not use it on very shiny finishes. What it takes off sometimes amazes me. ... View related article. |

| RE: Does Borax Cause Dark Colored Clothing to Fade? |

Borax in your laundry does produce small amounts hydrogen peroxide, so the possibility of fading of darks does exist. However I have used it for years and have never seen any fading. ... View related article. |

Ditto what Patty Lynn said about the thyroid. I have had to take thyroid since I was in my 20's, and it feels like you can hardly get up and walk. And the weight piles on so easily. It is easily treated and the drugs for it are inexpensive. Good luck! ... View related article. |

| RE: Quick and Easy Recipes |
|
Hi, The allrecipes.com site is my favorite. I am on there at least 6 to 8 times a week looking for what to do with whatever I have in the fridge. It has never failed me. They have many (often over 200) detailed reviews of a recipe. the recipes are all rated up to 5 stars. I only look at the 5 star recipes with lots of reviews. the reviews will tell you what they have done to adjust the recipe. This really helps. Recipes can be printed in 3x5 or 4x6 to fit in your reciped box. Good Luck! ... View related article. |

| RE: How Much Does House Cleaning Cost? |
|
Hi Kim, I clean houses in the Seattle area, which is a high income area like New York and LA. I charge $30 an hour. I have an excellent reputation, and often have to turn down work. The average for this area is $25 an hour. I have a 4 hour minimum. It is hard to do strenuous work for longer than 5 hours, so it is not worth going out for less than 4 hours. I dont clean houses over 3500 sq ft. That is a 2 person job. Nearly all houses can be cleaned in 4 to 5 hours. On a 1st clean I usually double my time, unless the house has been cleaned regularly. A move out clean usually takes double the average time...you are getting inside cabinets etc. Some folks are very messy and need to be rescued. For them I charge by the hour (they know who they are and rarely argue) Good luck! I have loved this work. ... View related article. |

| RE: Freezing Prepared Foods |
|
I bought one of the vacuum sealers that use special bags. The bags come on a roll or as seperate bags. They keep frozen food much longer. I have frozen bread for several months and it is like fresh. Be sure and freeze it before you vacuum seal it or it gets flattened by the vacuum sealer. They are expensive, but I got mine at the Goodwill for less than $5. I have saved a small fortune with it. ... View related article. |

| RE: How can I clean a cat? |
|
I liked all the suggestions for bathing cats. The one thing that came to mind for me was to trim the cats claws before the bath. Claws can be razor sharp. I trim my cats claws on a regular basis and since he likes to wrestle, I think I have save myself many scratches. He was a feral cat and puts up with this. Most pet departments have scissors for this purpose. ... View related article. |

| RE: Homemade Cleaner for Pet Urine Odors |
|
I have had a problem with cat urine on my bed spread. It is washable, but after washing there was a faint lingering smell. I washed it the next time and added 1/2 cup borax (I have a front loading machine). There was no smell this time. I understand borax (borateem) can have a lightening effect like peroxide, but I have never had it do that. I use it all the time now on anything with an odor. ... View related article. |
