Frugal stay-at-home mom of two (three counting my husband). Blogging keeps me off the streets. (Just kidding!) I really like sharing deals and bargains. I also enjoy learning new things.
My Maltese has had all kinds of sking troubles. He now is on Eucenuba Sensitive Skin Formula dog food. He is washed in a gentle shampoo for sensitive skin that has tea tree oil in it that I got from Petsmart. I also, when he had really bad sores, would dab tea tree oil on the sores with a cotton ball or q-tip. This helped dry and heal.
I know I am stating the obvious but sometimes you can get the smell coming up from the toilets and through the shower drains if you have a septic system. If so you might need to put some septic treatment down and research how long your septic has been in and if it has ever been pumped. ... View related article.
Wonderful post. All really great tips. Planning ahead is always key - especially now. Making children aware is so important. I always remind my daughter how some of those things she got before (when she saw them on tv) did not turn out like she thought they would! Giving experiences is a great idea. My kids love hockey and I was thinking of buying tickets and giving them to them for Christmas. http://www.savingspotpourri.blogspot.com/... View related article.
One of these should be given to every kid who goes out on their own - college, own apartment, etc. It would help even more is somebody showed them how to use the stuff before they left home! I can't tell you how many people can not even sew on a button. It horrifies me. I had to sew on badges for a little girl in our Girl Scout troop because her mom can not sew. What? Make Home Ec mandatory - these are life skills people! I am getting carpal tunnel helping friends sew. I can not tell you how often I sew for my own family. I would be lost without this skill. It truly is a dying art - how sad. http://www.savingspotpourri.blogspot.com/... View related article.
I too have a "mini store" in the unfinished part of our basement. I had my husband put a lock on it for mini-snoopers. I even have shelves with laundry baskets on it. Each kid has their own laundry basket. I have one for family, teachers, etc. When I buy gift I put them on a list and put them in the proper basket. It takes hardly any time and I am organized and know what I have year long! That way Christmas is not painful and is actually fun - and paid for with CASH! ... View related article.
You might need to be careful with this. Clark Howard (Savings Guru) said it would be unwise to do gift cards this season. I posted about this on my blog recently. Many businesses are not as healthy as we think they are. Some are downright on the verge of going out of business. The first losers when this happens is the gift cards holders - especially if a store files for bankruptcy.
Nothing says I love you like cold hard cash. (JK - LOL) I love gift cards too but I am finding other ways to show my love and appreciation this year. I would hate for my gift to end up being worthless and useless.
