RE: Check Online Banking Balance Frequently
Debit card protection is not protected the same as a credit card. 2 different actions from the bank.
I don't use a debit card, my online banking is my own passwords from home. When paying online, I pop money into Paypal so I know the source of my purchases, have a paper trail to follow if I need. If needing money to dine out, if they don't take a check, I make sure I get cash from the bank, not ATM. The less cards out there in my name, the less security clean up needs to be done.

Also do you know your utility companies, cable, internet ALL have your social security number? They have to purge it from their files and send you a letter in writing if you request it. I have. They also understand they will be the first names listed if I have ID fraud happening.
It is your right to be secure. Don't give out information they don't need. Even ordering pizza, standing and waiting for it, they want your phone #, name,. I don't give my phone #, and just call me Grandma. ... View related article.

RE: Planting Spider Plant Babies
I just take the feeder/runner, and the new starter on the end, pot it right away. Never NOT started for me. My mama plant is 21 years old. My pothos is 36 years old. I just take a clipping of that and put into good sterile soil as well. Lots of light. This year I brought in the gerbera daisy to see how well it grows. So far so good. In the kitchen with florescent lights on like the sun would be. ... View related article.

RE: White T-shirts Turned Pink
Another poster referred to SA8, but they have a better product which is Trizyme. OK, but this is past being a protein issue, it is a dye issue.
Get the Rit Dye Remover. Same place as Rit Dye is. Toss it in, that many shirts, use 1 bottle or 2 boxes. Hot water. Let it fill, dump in Rit then clothes, let swish. Shut off for about 15 minutes, Check shirts to see how they are coming, then go back and restart washer to run cycle to agitate. Never had anything NOT come out this way.
FYI, those with new front loading washers cannot do this, they have to do it on the stove in a large kettle. Cannot do dyes in those washers. ... View related article.

RE: Hibiscus Losing Leaves
My neighbor here in zone 4 does nothing with her plant. It gets to be about 6 feet in the summer. She is not a plant person, and so I was surprised it came back. This is the 2nd season of it. Flowers the size of luncheon plates. ... View related article.

RE: Planting Trees and Shrubs Near a Septic System
Check with your county or State environmental agency, they may have guidelines to help with your questions. Stay clear or roots may creep into the system somewhere along the way, and then you might have to dig a whole new system. ... View related article.

RE: Drainage for a Sloping Vegetable Garden
I would purchase some sand, soil and peat, mix them, add them so the slope is slowly at an angle. I have this too, and by adding some ground plants or even naturalized plants, that helps with erosion. Mine were gloriosa and cone flowers. They fill in well. ... View related article.

RE: Sprinkle Used Coffee Grounds Around Plants
Check online with your state's extension site. Ask the question. It depends on the plant. The acidity could change the PH dramatically or it not hurt it at all. Make sure you work it into the soil to avoid little bugs that hatch in compost (grounds). ... View related article.

RE: Cleaning Terra Cotta Pots
Yes, go ahead and toss it in your dishwasher, add a cup of vinegar or 1/2 cup laundry liquid bleach to disinfect. If you have thoughts of contamination, use the sanitizer button or rewash empty dishwasher on short cycle. Make sure you have hot water heat or that it is hot. I have done this before. ... RE: Ripening Green Tomatoes Inside
I picked mine, left them outside in a Rubbermaid flat container. I had about 200 tomatoes. I covered them during the night, uncovered during the day. Then our rains began so I drained and made sure all were dry. Brought them in and sorted to flat Tupperware according to ripeness. You need to rotate for air. As time went on, I processed what I planned to, Green Tomato pickles were in my book, tried all sorts of things. The last green hard ones took about 3 weeks BUT in that time, I had no mold, just the tomato became less tasty and the skin became tougher. So without must ado, I toss the last 50 out.

I made lots of green and red mix pickles from tomatoes as well. My grape/cherry tomatoes, little pear ones too, made pretty party pickle mix (Ball Book has great suggestions). Even if I did 1-2 jars, I tried it. I enter into the county fair and thought this was a great way to make some things I would not ordinarily do.
