The older I become, the more I realize that going back to the way I was raised, being careful about spending money, using things in a creative way, are very important.
The idea of more and more is not success. Success is enjoying what you do have, and making good use of everyone one buys or is given.
I like to do crafts, but sometimes go for months not doing them. Quilts are a favorite useful item I make. Though I crochet a bit, draw a bit, mostly I like making useful things. The occassional fun 'character' is okay, but anything that sits around drawing dust really isn't my style. Unless it is a dust mitt.
I agree with kidsNclutter but also a cone filter uses less grounds and makes stronger coffee, esp if you manually, very very slowly, pour the water in, a little at a time. We use a manual Melitta coffee pot/filter we buy at Amazon. We get good tasting coffee and use very little coffee, two small scoops per pot. The slower the water is poured, the better. Most coffee makers let the water through too quickly, so you need to use more coffee. ... View related article.
Ask around and see if she could trade some of the meatballs for other food. Or feed a church youth group with some of them. If you freeze them in sauce or gravy, they will last a long time frozen. You could throw a big block party and feed everyone plus have fun too. Could dice up and add as a topping to pizza, chili, casseroles. ... View related article.
If you know many people, ask them all if any have any decorations, and tell them your wedding colors. In the olden days of my youth, they used to cover the couple's car with tissue paper flowers, white. You could make orange tissue paper flowers for the tables inexpensively (directions can be found online to make them). Have a wonderful marriage! ... View related article.
Might give stuff to charity or use a local Freecycle group online to downsize household things and not fill the landfills. Story was not clear how much space they were living in now. I live at home and we have to live on %50 less income & are doing it, but still have space. I wouldn't want to live in a tiny space like a camper for all of my days. Still it is good to get rid of extra things we have in life & keep what we really use and love. ... View related article.
What I do is line my heating grabbit bowl with a baggy that is filled with the leftovers, freeze it like that, then put the bowl away. So later unmolding it fits my bowl exactly. Also if you freeze fresh fish I fill with water. Meatballs keep better with lots of sauce. ... View related article.
Staying out of stores that tempt me to buy what I don't really need is my way too. Also, I can look online but unless something is needed, like a new bible study book for class, or kitchen towels that worn out and landed in the rag bag, it is best to not have the debit card anywhere near the computer to stop temptation in it's tracks. Cooking at home saves a lot of money, and I like your desert once a week idea. Good for our health. ... View related article.
Well you might look at craft sites, like oriental trading or S & S, and get ideas of things to make out of foam, like wreaths for the seasons, tic tac toe games and such. Also just google 'craft foam crafts' and see what websites turn up. That's what i'd do. And by all means, use your imagination for used CDs, like coasters, a banner with them linked together with happy birthday, one letter per disk, or the name of a child. Do a google search for free craft sites like familyfun etc and you will find lots of things to make. ... View related article.
