RE: Alternatives to a Gift Registry
Ha! susanmajp's post reminded me. At our wedding we recieved a large package wrapped in gold paper. When we went home and opened our gifts we tried to guess what it was. It turned out to be a box filled with TP, paper towels and tissues. Either the card fell off or the giver didn't want to identify themselves, so we never did know who gave it to us. But I have to say it was among the most useful gifts we recieved!! I just feel guilty six and a half years later because I never knew who to thank. Maybe it was supposed to be a gag gift. I don't really know. But hey, we were able to use it!! :) ... View related article.

RE: Alternatives to a Gift Registry
I would much rather give someone money if that's what they need than buy some gift they don't want or can't use.

RE: Store Brands That Are Better Than Name Brand Products
I use store brands of most everything. I have decided to switch back to Charmin toilet tissue. I was buying White Cloud at Wal-Mart, but they changed it and I don't like it anymore. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I have it found brand name feminine sanitary products to be superior. I must be really weird, because I like generic mac n cheese!:) I bought Kraft once and thought it was too salty. Peanut butter, we prefer JIf. Or Smucker's natural peanut butter.

RE: Elastic String and Cat Story
Oh, that had to be so traumatic for the poor dear. Cats can become traumatized. My husband's aunt has a cat that has exhibited strange behavior since someone broke into their house several years ago. It's hard to say what happened to her in the burglary, but she really doesn't like strangers. And if she's sitting on a chair you better find elsewhere to sit :)

RE: Easing Stress
The people weren't saying stress isn't real. They were suggesting to try to keep things in perspective. I know for myself I tend to fret over things that don't matter: The car had a flat tire, my son stuck something up his nose, I burned dinner, someone said something I didn't like, and on and on. Those things are easily remedied. They were suggesting to know the difference between a small thing and a big thing, not saying there's no such thing as stress, ... View related article.

RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problem
Um, I have put vinegar in my bathwater. I have used it when my scalp itches like crazy and won't stop. I am still alive. My skin is fine. I got it in my eyes and it burned, but not for long. ... View related article.

RE: Creative Potty Training
I know this is an old topic, but i just had to say thanks for this tip. I plan to use it with my small son, who LOVES water. We tried it yesterday, no pee, but he stayed on the potty longer than he ever has, so that's a good sign. I suppose sooner or later pee will happen! This is the best tip for us that I have read on the 'net. Thanks again! ... View related article.
