Profile For 1bigmama - 1bigmama

I am a born again christian who loves her family. Will be returning to college after seventeen years, my major will be psychology, and my minor will be geneal business. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Wish me well.

I have been married for 12 years and we have a twenty three year old son and a sixteen year old daughter. The baby of the family is the cat, her name is Pookie, but we have several other names for her to which she answers. We call her fat fat (because she is), little girl, monkey doodle, sweetie (because she is). She is totally spoiled and loves attention.

RE: Rachel the Cat
She is so pretty, I am glad that you both have one another. You both are very fortunate. I have a precious little pus also. Well she is not little she is about 22 pounds of pure love. She is the sweetest cat I have ever had. She has never hissed, attacked, or scratched us. All she wants is love and attention. Just like your Rachel, Pookie likes to follow me around the house also, she also likes to lick me. I just love her.

I hope that you gals continue to have a beautiful life together.

Bye the way, do you have any tips on how I can get pookie to loss a few pounds? I have tried Science Diet Light, but she just seems to stay the same weight. She is spade, would that have anything to do with it?

Give Rachel kisses, and pets from Pookie and I. ... View related article.

RE: Three Tier Garden Container
This is absolutely beautiful. However, I do have questions, are these annuals only?, can you do this with perninnals? what kind of potting soil did you use? can you do this with fragrant blooms? If I wanted to use this technique for my side and front porches, would I have to plant all the way around the pots? Again this is a wonderful idea, I would like to try this, especially being that I prefer container planting over ground planting. I don't like the whole weeding process, and I find that it is easier to water them in pots than in the ground garden. ... View related article.

RE: Excuses For Gossipy Callers
I do not like to entertain gossip of any sort, however neither will I lie about having to get off of the phone. I am honest and will say, listen, I wish not to talk about this and unless we are willing to pray for them or the situation we should not let filthy communication proceed out of our mouths. If they are offended apologize to them that it is not your intent to wound them, but you are not a garbage can and you would do the same with someone else if they called wanting to gossip about them. Also, once the word is out that you don't gossip and will not tolerate it from anyone, your phone will not be ringing much. So, I like to keep the conversation honest, trustworthy, and my heart and mind clean and clear of garbage. ... View related article.

RE: Use Brown Rice Instead Of White
I cook brown rice all of the time and there is a method to it. First, I do not use water, only chicken or vegetable broth, a little extra virgin olive oil, or a piece of butter for flavor. This way it cuts down on the amount of salt used. Remember, brown rice takes a longer time to cook. I only cook it on the stove. I do not use a rice cooker. Follow the directions on the back, bring to a boil, turn down to low, cover and let it simmer until fluffy. Remember, do not peek, let it cook. Make sure you have enough liquid in the pot. It will take about a half an hour or forty-five minutes. Now, halfway through cooking it, you can add it to your chicken and cook it the rest of the way. If you are not sure if it is done, taste test. If it is hard, add a little more liquid and continue to cook. There is nothing worse than trying to eat half cooked rice, regardless if it is white or brown. By the way, I use Uncle Ben's Brown Rice. I do not use the quick brown rice, it does not taste the same. Hope all goes well. Happy Rice Cooking. ... View related article.

RE: Disinfectant For Laundry Other Than Bleach
To dreamreader8, I did read the article and thanks, however, the artilce only focused on vinegar and baking soda, there are other natural home remedies that can disinfect our homes. There is perixode, ammonia, borax, alcohol, and when used properly they are very effective. I have come to realize that, if perixode can disinfect and heal my cuts it should be able to do the trick in the bathroom or in my kitchen. I also use a mixture of one cup white vinegar, one cup of alcohol 70-90%, one cup of ammonia and the rest water, in a spray bottle, I spray it on the surface let it rest and that is it. Clean and disinfected. It also leave a pleasant smell instead of a strong chemical smell that is not good for our lungs or the environment. Thank you just the same. ... View related article.

RE: Using Borax Instead of Bleach
I also agree. Not only do I use borax in my wash I will use baking soda and white vinegar in my wash also, and my laundry is the better for it. I often will soak my white clothes in the machine with the detergent and the other stuff and my white clothes are beautiful. I buy borax by the boxes and store them in an old cat liter container. I do the same with the baking soda and scoop out as I need to.ANother thing that I do with borax and baking soda is sprinkle some on my carpet one hour or so before I vacuum and it does wonders it keeps my house smelling fresh and clean not perfumey. ... RE: My Clothes Don't Smell Good
We recently brought a Maytag last year and I noticed that the inside of the machine was stink, but not the clothes. However, I was concerned because I did not like the way the machine smelled. At first I would let it air dry, but that did not seem to work. I have started washing every load that I have in One Cup of White Vinegar, One Cup of Baking Soad, and One half Cup of Borax, not only are my clothes nice clean and white, but I do not have that stink smell in my washing machine, and I can close the lid. Also, if you have a softner dispenser, instead of putting fabric softner in there, try using a little white vinegar and water this will soften your clothes and keep the stinky smell down as well. ...
