RE: Blue Film on Inside of Dryer
I add 1/2 cup white vinegar to my rinse water as a fabric softener and to stop static cling. I found the hint on this site. Since I've been using the vinegar I've noticed that I also don't have the gooy buildup from fabric softeners in the fabric softener dispensor. ... View related article.

Easter grass is also great to put in Mason jars. Let some of the "grass" spill over the top of the jar. ... View related article.

RE: Changing the Color of a Couch
I made a couch cover by sewing the sides of 2 full size sheets together. I can take it off each week and throw it in the washer. Be sure to measure your couch to see what size sheets you would need. ... View related article.

RE: Cleaning Dog Beds - My Dog Beds Smell Bad
If your dog's ears stink, he may have yeast in his ears or an ear infection. If you see black stuff, it's also ear mites. Dogs with floppy ears are especially susceptible to ear infections. I add 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a pint of water. Take an eye dropper and drop about 6 drops of this liquid in each ear canal. Message the area at the base of the ear canal well to distribute the liquid throughout the ear. Do this about once a week, and it should help. If your dog also has ear mites, get some mite medicine for dogs (found in dog section of super market, pet store, etc.) use as prescribed on the bottle. Treat the ear for the infection and ear mites on different days, and let your dog's ear dry out in between times. ... View related article.

RE: Rancid Smelling Dish Towels
I use cloth napkins to save money. I use to use them to drain french fries, etc.. I stopped for the very reason you describe. PLUS the rancid smell was also being transferred to the rest of my wash. Now I use cheap paper towels to drain grease, and use rags to clean up dirty nongreasy messes. I save the paper towels for grease. ... View related article.

RE: Black Soot on Walls
I'm commenting on 2 different people's questions here. If the black marks are from a fire, try making a paste of baking soda & water. Use a soft washcloth to clean it off.

I agree with the person who said the candles burning may be covering up the smell of mold. I go to a lot of estate sales, so I've been in lots of people's homes. You'd be surprised by the number of people who have problems with mold. Make sure there is good drainage around your house to prevent mold. Never buy a house with a mold problem. There may be mold in the walls and other areas you can't clean. Bleach kills mold. ... View related article.

RE: Military Ball Theme Ideas
Here's something I've done for ladies' banquets at church, but I think would work well for your occassion too.

Use 1 foot square mirror tiles on the tables. Place a bud vase off-center with flowers (silk or real) in it. Place pretty high heels 1 on each side facing different directions. Drape cheap pearl or beaded necklaces over the high heels.

Another thing I use a lot of is bridal tulle. I wad it up and twist it, run it down the center of a long table or pile it up in the center of a round table. You can place all kinds of things in the puffiness of the tulle. Be careful with candles though.

Candles give a romantic feel.Tiny twinkling Christmas lights are beautiful as long as you have a place to plug them in, and the cords are out of the way. They are also pretty wound through artificial trees. I've used the Christmas lights under tulle on a long buffet table. Ivy is useful for twining around. ... View related article.
