| RE: Save Time And Money With Home Cooked Meals |
An even better test is cook for two weeks with no fast foods. You will be amazed at how much extra money you have. Add to that selective shopping (buy cleaning supplies and canned goods at the Dollar Store) and watching sale items, and you will be even further ahead. ... View related article. |

| RE: Retirement Dinner for a Teacher |
|
I am a retired teacher. I look back at my retirement dinner with fond memories. It was held at Red Lobster and everyone paid for their own dinner (except me) and those who I knew well and was close to attended. They took a collection and bought me a gold charm with the school initials on one side and the year on the other and had it put on a chain. It was a collection of my friends and it meant more to me than the county presentation with several hundred in attedance. I cherish the charm and it doesn't sit out and collect dust. ... | RE: Making Stepping Stones |
This is still using cement, but the result is more than just a cement stepping stone. Get old pans that are fairly large but shallow. I have not tried lining them, but if you think you want to use the pans for additional pieces, try lining them with a garbage bag.
Pour cement into the pan at the desired depth. When the cement is beginning to set, decorate the top by pressing different leaves or branches just deep enough to leave a good impression. Make each one different. You can even print on some of them--"Beauty" "Peace" "Garden" or whatever you would like.
After they set you should be able to remove them from the pans because of the lining. The varied shapes and designs should give your yard a very personal touch. ... View related article. |

| RE: How to Preserve Cattails |
Pick them before they reach the bursting stage. Then put them to one side until they dry and then spray with a hair lacquer or clear shellac.
I also use the hairspray on the plumy grasses to keep them from blowing away. They hold up fairly well, except you cannot dust them. ... View related article. |

| RE: Using Regular Crayons to Decorate Fabric |
When I was in fifth grade, we made luncheon cloths and napkins in art class. We used crayons and colored our pictures solidly. In order to set the crayons our teacher had us put a brown bag behind the picture, but we used a press cloth of strong salt water and pressed the picture. She told us the strong salt water would make the material completely washable. I remember Mother washed hers several times, but can't tell you any more than that because she didn't really have a use it so she just put it away after that.
If I were doing that now, I would do it that way except that I would place a brown bag over the press cloth to protect the iron. ... View related article. |

| RE: Should I Choose Brown or White Eggs? |
I was raised in the country and we had an incubator and raised 100+ chicks every spring. We raised white Plymouth Rocks, tan Buff Orpingtons, and dark rust Rhode Island Reds. They were all fed the same corn and mash, and they were all allowed to eat grass. The white hens laid white eggs, the buff hens laid light brown eggs, and the red hens laid dark brown eggs. My mother always cooked with and fed us the brown and tan eggs because she said they were better for us and they tasted better. She sold all of the white eggs and the brown eggs only if we had too many.
Mother always said the brown eggs were richer and when frying them, the yolks stood higher and had a thicker consistency than did the white eggs.
My information is strictly from personal knowledge. I realize that Google lists many sites that say the egg color is determined by earlobe color. I'm passing this information on just for whatever it is worth. I'm still going to eat brown eggs. ... View related article. |

| RE: Uses for Leftover Ambrosia Fruit Salad |
My old standby is Jello. Anything with fruit or cheese will go into Jello.
It might possibly go well combined with Cottage Cheese in the Jello. I have mixed cottage cheese in jello with peaches, pineapple, and pears at different times and my family liked it all. ... View related article. |

| RE: Using Bill Pay Features |
|
I definitely agree with you on the Bank Bill Payer as opposed to the automatic withdrawal by the creditor. Temporary file for payment pending is a fantastic idea. Wish I had thought of that a long time ago. I have projected my bank account showing expected income and expenses for several months with a running balance so that I do not get overdrawn. That way I change the date of payment if necessary. That has also helped. ... View related article. |
