| RE: Could This Be Strep? |
|
1. Never ask for medical advice on a forum for saving money. 2. A doctor should be seen if there is no improvement. We get sick and the body fights it off. If there is no improvement it leads doctors to think it is bacterial instead of viral. Anti"biotics" can be used to then fight the infection. 5 days without medicine and you should be seeing improvement. Strep is contagious for up to 21 days but your body can fight it off. As a side note...Tylenol works for a fever...but by reducing fever you stop some of the immune systems ability to fight infection. Now I'm not saying not to take Tylenol because you feel like garbage but you do prolong healing. Sorethroats can be caused from several things: Allergies, Viral Infections, Bacterial Infections, or just cold weather stimulating excessive post nasal drip. Sorethroats with a fever and exudate can stear you toward strep but the only conclusive test is a rapid strep followed by culture. Ceceh is correct in that strep is no longer contagious after 24 hours on antibiotics. I suggest giving it one more day, try some warm saltwater rinses and if there is still no improvement then see a doctor. NOT the ER...It's not an emergency. Rapid streps are done quicker in an office and it's a lot cheaper. Keep to soft foods...BRAT (Banana's, Rice, Apples, and Toast) diet and throw some beans in for protein. Nothing to irritate the throat. ... View related article. |

| RE: Energy Efficient Thermostat |

I'm a DH and I did it. The install isn't that hard but I do agree that the programming is much harder. Most people don't know that you will need to reset it about every 3 months as the seasons change. Your comfortable temperature will change with the seasons. You will also be using the override feature. The temperature changes are so strange right now in PA that I am having to readjust it a lot. My wife and I both work different times of the day (night, mid, and day shift)and I go to school during the day on Mon, Tues, and Thurs so setting a program is almost impossible. If you have a 925 husband/wife and a stay at home it is much easier to use. Someday I hope to be there. It is a worthwhile investment and you will save money in the long run. So go to Home Depot and buy one. As for the install. This is a low current/voltage switch. Colors can be hard to deal with. There are jumpers. The instructions for install are pretty good for the transfer. Just MAKE sure you write down the colors and order of the old switch (and never throw it away) in case of a malfunction (or you run out of AA batteries it needs to run on) or it could be a cold winter. I change my batteries when I change my smoke detectors. Good luck... ... View related article. |

| RE: Curtis LCD TV Reviews |

Just my opinion, but DLP is much better then LCD right now. I know you want HDTV but wait just a little longer for LCD. The new generations of LCD's that are coming out will have a LONG lifespan and carry HDTV (16x9) for a long time. DLP then Plasma are still better and last longer. I love HDTV and I have a DLP overhead projector (set at 73" right now) and if I could I would buy the 72" stand-alone but I've compared DLP to LCD and DLP is still the best. ... | RE: Moisture In Double Glazed Windows |
|
Double pane windows contain a gas to keep temperature regulated. If moisture or lime is in between the panes then the seal is broken. You can only replace the windows in this case if you want the true economic benefits of the window glass. However, double pane glass does keep the temperature regulated without the gas, but just not as much. To clean, you have to remove the factory gasket, remove the pane of glass, clean with any glass cleaner, set the glass back in place, and reseal both exterior edges of the glass. Exterior window caulk from a home supply will work. If you leave something between the glass (dust) it is there to stay. I'll bet it's the bathroom that is your biggest problem with moisture (now you have scale in between the glass). The temperature/moisture changes in the bathroom is what causes the problem. If you are planning on having windows installed make sure you have a good warranty for this problem. ... View related article. |
